Reviews For No time like the present

Hello!

We don't see enough of Lavender and Parvati in fanfic (we didn't really see that much of them in the books either, I suppose). So I love what you've done here, giving them a conversational moment after the visit to the Hog's Head. Somehow, Lavender doesn't strike me as the sort of person who would have voluntarily set foot inside that pub(!). They have their doubts about a secret society; it goes against the rules and that's dangerous. Even Gryffindors don't always enjoy flouting rules.

Parvati's concern is quite natural, given their ages. But she has confidence in her friend Lavender, who, in turn has faith in what Harry has said. And Umbridge won't teach them anything. If they want to learn how to defend themselves, they'll have to manage extra-curricularly.

Enjoyed reading this moment!

Hello again!

That opening sentence has mischief written all over it! Why would the twins express an interest in going to collect Harry? He's their friend, but not their close friend like Lee Jordan is. Of course seeing Harry isn't the reason for their asking.

Love how Arthur just replies in the affirmative, as though he hasn't paid any attention to the request, but their father isn't daft! He knows they must be up to something and adds the little note about not antagonising anyone and being on their best behaviour.

"Or this is the last time I'll trust you"

I think this was probably the last time that Arthur trusted his twin boys. Ton-tongue toffees for Dudley (well, he did deserve them for what he put Harry through! Shame they couldn't persuade Vernon and Petunia to try some too!

Honestly, you have such a gift for bringing these little forgotten moments to life. This is another brilliantly-written drabble!

Hello!

I love how this drabble opens with a question of 'what about the house-elves?' Something we've heard Hermone say over the years, and leading to the development of SPEW, and probably uttered many more times since. The fact that it's Ron saying these words really speaks volumes about his personal growth and his partnership/relationship with Hermione - that he's taking on board her concerns and focuses and making them part of his too. And nothing makes people fall in love with them more than if they know the other person is fighting their corner. The way that phrase acts as the catalyst for Ron and Hermione to kiss is just perfect.

A well-drabbled moment in the midst of so much battle chaos

Hello again!

You really do write the most amazing drabbles; it's so hard to pack so much into so few words. I love the first observation here, that the tunnel appears to be getting smaller because the Marauders are getting bigger - of course, their Animagus forms probably grow with their human forms, right? And develop adult characteristics. I wonder if James Potter's Animagus antlers will increase in branch number over the years too??

And I LOVE that James and Pete might be in the game, but it's Sirius for whom it feels more real for, and the reassuring kiss he drops him at the end is perfect reassurance for Remus that he didn't hurt anyone.

This was so cute! <3

Hello!

Oh my, the foreshadowing in this chapter is immense; what else could go wrong tonight indeed?

Maybe Harry can sense something stirring and he's restless as a consequence. Or maybe it's his parents' worry and anxiety that they must have been living with for quite a while now. Or the fact that they are cooped up in this cottage because it's too dangerous outthere for them. ny which way, Harry won't sleep. And now there's no milk to be found. It's funny that Lily thinks James has hidden the milk - what a time to joke around when it's late and the baby won't sleep - but then Lily lets loose a swear-word and realises she'll have to feed him tonight.

This is just incredibly sad becaue we know what happens moments later, but a light, amusing moment nonetheless.

Hello! Here for a galazy review

This is such a sweet little story written in so few words, beginning with Dominique's apprehension and ending with the cinfidence thatshe's got this and can brave the train and go to school. We rarely hear about the kids who are worried about leaving home and going to Hogwarts for the first time, but it must be a daunting experience for most eleven year olds. And it's refreshing in a way to read about a kid who is a little put off by the idea of change; she wants to stay in the comfort and safety of her home with her little brother Louis and play chess.

It's so sad that she sees it as a punishment, but I hope that being at school helps Dominique to change her mind. And she's showing real bravery and a caring nature here by not wanting her Mum to worry about her.

Beautifully written as all your works are <3

Ok, so this is such a short piece, but it says SO MUCH about these characters. First of, Arthur is not dummy. And I always appreciate it whenever someone really takes the time to highlight that he is wiser than most people give him credit for. And I think there are a lot of reasons for his canon portrayal, but we won't get into them here. Also, I love how you can sense the mischief that the twins are plotting between themselves. They don't even need to verbally communicate their plans. They just know. Call it the twin thing or whatever you like, you show their connection so well here without having to use many words at all. I think it's brilliant.

I also love the "Arthur nodded, and that's when the high five happened.." Like it's such a vivid visual we can hear it and see it happening behind Arthur's back. And we know the boys don't stay true to their world, and Arthur gave them an earful later, but in this instance, it's just a fun little piece about the twins being themselves and Arthur being the excellent father that he is.

Great little read :)
