hi back for another galazy review!
I can't believe that everyone is so invested in Minerva and Tom's relationship, that's so hilarious. It's like this little cluster of gossip and drama, and I'm sure he hates it.
The black hole!! What the heck Tom, you can't just create black holes. I love how Dumbledore has never even seen one. And that Tom is like, can't I just have one normal day?
Also the Slug Club, with Slughorn coming in and offering Gin after Tom just said that doesn't happen. Why won't they let the student-teacher thing go??? Kids and their rumors

The rumor mill regarding Tom and Minerva is running rampant haha. Just like any workplace whenever something "SCANDELOUS" occurs. We must entertain ourselves through the drudgery somehow, mustn't we? And LOL at everyone trying to offer up "dating," advice or telling him that he ought to make it right. How frustrating for Tom to be largely misunderstood and unheard. No wonder he loses his shit.
And the way that Cornelia and Tom appraise one another really gives us great insight into Cornelia as a character. The way you've conducted research about magic beyond spell casting and have really thought about the theory is well done! I don't understand half of it (but that's because I am simple minded about such things), but I can still appreciate how intelligent you make them sound during their exchange. I sort of like that she's planning on using him as much as he is planning on using her. It makes me feel less worried for her. She can clearly look out for herself.
LOL at Tom's almost slip of "victim," and then is "AHEM I MEAN TARGET."
And then he creates a black hole and everyone's like "Hmmm...what do we do about it? Let's just seal it up and hope no one ever finds it again." Seems like a pretty accurate representation of Hogwarts life hah.
"I'm not giving you gin and cigars."
The door burst open and in came Slughorn. "I have gin!" he announced.

The way the Slug Club has progressed with Tom co-running it was interesting to see. I also love how Tom borders on thinking its a place for recruits and also sort of useless. Seems like a plausible Tom Riddle thought process on something like this.

The teachers trying to give him ‘helpful advice’ is very funny. I’m sure they mean well…
I enjoyed the interaction with Cornelia. She is definitely shaping up to be a foil for Tom and you’ve created a very enjoyable personality for her in that Tom doesn’t know what the heck to do with her. Yet again, he’s flummoxed.
My guess is that you’ve taken real astrophysics papers and changed just a single word to make them fit effortlessly into this conversation.
So you decide to blow up his mid-twenties crisis in this chapter by having him be consumed by self-doubt. He’s so un-Voldemort right now and it’s enjoyable to see him flounder.
The disaster of the Slug Club meeting was very enjoyable as well - especially Slughorn bringing gin, one of your real-life thesis papers being written by Miss Sinestra, fire-boy, and Tom being ‘that teacher that’s dating Hester Hopkirk.’‘

Oh poor Minerva; I think it's going to take a bit of effort on Tom's part before she's feeling a bit less stabby toawrds him. Wait - this isn't a slow burn romance between Tom and Minerva, is it? In which case, things are progressing nicely to doom-land, ready for a turnaround in about 8 or 9 chapters. Or is Tom going to act sooner than that and ask Minerva to the Slug Club?
Or wll he ask Cordelia? :eyes:
Poor Tom. He's failing at all aspects and it seems he cannot catch a break (why am I saying 'poor Tom'??) because Cordelia completely wiped the floor with him, and now there's a great black nothingness occupying a classroom, the students keep questioning him about his love life and HE STILL HASN"T GOT A DATE
BAHAHA!! Not really feeling sorry for him, though!

everyone seems to think tom needs their dating advice when it comes to minnie and i am absolutely dying at the idea
and then when he tries to apologise (and that’s only because he doesn’t need the faculty to hate him, right, not because it’s the right thing to do, obviously!) i love how minnie is just ‘go away’ but he doesn’t and he’s kinda awkward instead of how he usually manages to be pretty suave and charismatic and then beery omg beery really likes to get in the middle of things he obviously shouldn’t get in the middle of…..and then try and offer advice! it’s hilarious
the back and forth between him and slughorn was amazingly well done, love how tom is so obviously annoyed and that he even lets slughorn see that!
the fact that slughorn seems to think tom is interested in cornelia in a dating capacity instead of being just super curious as to what exactly she’s up to has me in stitches, it’s also funny that slughorn has proclaimed *his* understudy is a disaster which…godd hogwarts is just a disastrously funny school isn’t it?
‘In other words, teaching was horrible, and it was turning him into an idiot.’ - this is a perfect line, especially the detailed assessment of his current situation that came before it
cornelia is obviously even more suspicious than before and wow okayy i’m feeling a lil sorry for tom and his wounded pride right now :P but the way he takes almost literally everything as a challenge is so relatable to me i can’t help but root for him. except if he like…kills someone who doesn’t deserve it, in that case we won’t be on the same team
the creation of the black hole was brilliant and i am cackling at the aftermath, that is all
