The End of My Six-Month Hiatus
I'M BACK.
Hello, HPFT! I've missed you so much!
So, for those of you who may not remember (because, tbh, I barely remember yesterday, let alone last fall): I went on hiatus about six months ago to finish getting ready for my wedding. I'd fully intended to be back in November...but then life happened.
So, a brief rundown of the last six months of my life:
Personal Life
So, as mentioned, I got married in October! It was a lovely day, and my husband and I were so happy to be surrounded by our family and friends. We went on a brief mini honeymoon since we had to get back to work, but that was also nice!
And then.
Then, 12 days after our wedding, my husband was laid off. It was absolutely devastating. At the time, we lived in New York City, and the minute he was laid off, we were suddenly completely unsure about our financial situation. Even with 3 months' severance, we were facing the possibility of not being able to see our families for the holidays, losing our apartment, and potentially having to leave the city altogether, which would make job searching for my husband so much harder.
For 2 months, we suffered through that, and then, just a week or so before Christmas, my husband was hired at a new firm, this time in the city we'd left to move to NYC 18 months earlier. So things immediately started looking up! We were able to see our families and start looking to the future again. Our search for a new place to live took up the beginning of January, and we moved at the end of that month.
So that takes us through 3 months of my hiatus.
After we got settled here, we're looking at about 4 months in. Then, of course, the pandemic hit. And the last 6–8 weeks have been us in quarantine, staying healthy and keeping as calm as possible. We're doing so well, though, and I'm so eternally grateful to have come through the wild last half-year with my sanity mostly intact.
Media Interests
So, happier things! What have I been consuming media-wise lately? I finished The Good Place (which was fabulous, of course) and am up to date on Brooklyn 99. The husband and I watched all of Yu Yu Hakusho (which I somehow never saw as a kid) and I now obsessively ship Hiei/Kurama. And we watched all of Hunter x Hunter, which is my current obsession. I may even write Killua/Gon fanfiction for you all sometime!
HP-Fandom Updates
Not much on this front, except that I'm finally back to editing Collateral+, and I'll be posting chapters again soon! I missed it, of course, and I'm eager to be finished improving it and get it up for you all!
And now, I ask you! What have you all been up to? How have the last six months been? What have I missed? (God, I'm sure I've missed so much. ) Please update me about anything and everything in your lives!
