July 11th, 2020 | Buzzfeed Quizzes
Welcome to the July edition of the Prefects' Potpourri blog series! This month, we decided to take a few different buzzfeed quizzes and see how all of us were similar (or different) in a variety of ways! There's Harry Potter, Taylor Swift, and, of course, Hamilton involved, so read on to see what each Prefect's results were for each quiz. Feel free to take these quizzes yourselves and reply with your answers in the comments!
BAKE A CAKE AND YOU'LL BE SORTED INTO YOUR HOGWARTS HOUSE
quiz here+
Melanie: Ravenclaw (Out of curiosity I took this quiz more than once and made two completely different cakes and got Ravenclaw both times! And then I took it a couple different ways with cakes I didn't especially feel like making and got non-Ravenclaw results! So, can confirm its accuracy. )
Shreya: I got Slytherin and I am baffled! I expected to get Ravenclaw since that’s what I put as the house I want to be in, but maybe that’s what tipped it off?? Maybe all Slytherins secretly just want chocolate cake and want to be Ravenclaws????? I’ve literally never been sorted into Slytherin before so this is wild.
Tasha: I got Ravenclaw and WTF?!? I think this is the first time I've ever gotten Ravenclaw on anything and for the record my vanilla cake with lemon icing, white chocolate and raspberries would be amazing (at least it would if I could eat it...stupid raspberry allergy)
Sarah: i got ravenclaw and i also made a vanilla cake with lemon icing and white chocolate, which i guess is the cake of claws? idk it sounds delicious though. i wasn't super surprised to be sorted here instead of gryffindor though, since my first choice of "from scratch using my own recipe" for how you're going to make the batter isn't super gryffie, but i am a baking snob and i openly admit that
Madi: I got Hufflepuff house which, tbh, doesn't super surprise me as it is frequently told to me as my secondary house. I am also a fan of baking in general but this quiz was so basic it makes me wonder how accurate it could really be, especially considering it's only like 5 questions.
WHICH HAMILTON SONG IS YOUR PERSONAL THEME SONG
quiz here+
Melanie: "You'll Be Back" (Description: You can be a little...controlling sometimes. Like, if you're doing a group project, you HAVE to be the one in charge. You just like to have a firm grip on situations! But you also want people to like you. It's a constant struggle. Alas. -- Melanie says: No lies detected.)
Shreya: The Room Where It Happens: You've got ambition, and you dream of having the power to change lives for the better and be a shot caller. You just have to wait for your opportunity!
(Honestly, I have a slight hustle personality and definitely want to change lives for the better, so this feels right ).
Tasha: "Non Stop" and tbh that's pretty fitting since I always seem to be juggling several different things at once and my usual motto when I have too much going on is "I can sleep when I'm dead."
Sarah: non-stop. honestly, i have never seen hamilton (or most of the musicals mentioned in this quiz) and at the time of taking this quiz i have not had time to watch it on disney+ yet, so i picked most of these answers kind of randomly, but the description fits so i'll take it.
Madi: I got "Non-Stop"! You're the hardest worker around, which is why this is the perfect theme song for you. Whenever you start a new task, you do it as if you're running out of time. It means you get a lot done, but make sure you set aside time for the other things in life, like friends and family! I mean, I am a PhD student so this tracks well, tbh.
WHICH TAYLOR SWIFT SONG ARE YOU BASED ON THE WAY YOU RESPOND TO THESE TEXTS
quiz here+
Melanie: "Fifteen" (Being a teenager was wretched. Good song tho.)
Shreya: You’re most like "Fifteen", a song Taylor wrote about her best friend Abigail! Although you are mature, romantic, and have experience with the hardships of life, you’re still a kid at heart. You’re very caught up in the social scene and seek out fun. ’Cause when you’re fifteen, somebody tells you they love you, you’re gonna believe them!
I wonder if this is because I apparently respond to texts like a teenager
Tasha: I got "You Need to Calm Down" and I'm pretty sure that this is something my friends would say to me often if I got to see them more. I tend to go off the rails when I'm passionate about something and admittedly I can be pretty annoying at times because of it.
Sarah: you need to calm down. first took this quiz at work which was hilarious because my boss tells me all the time "you need to calm down, you're being too loud" but that's more because he says that i'm the reason he'll go deaf one day (there's no such thing as an "indoor voice" thanks). but in all seriousness, the description of this was def me! you can be defiant or unconventional but thats not necessarily a bad thing. you are very adamant about standing up for what you believe in. and well yes to all that
Madi: I got "Fifteen" but honestly it doesn't make any sense because I don't text like hardly ANY of the options that are given in this quiz, so it felt very weird to say I'd say something that would never actually say over text, or in general, really.
EVERYONE HAS A 2000S SOUND THAT MATCHES THEIR PERSONALITY - HERE'S YOURS
quiz here+
Melanie: Windows startup page ("loud" and "bold" -- Jury's out on this one...)
Shreya: Your personality matches the sound of the Windows startup page. You're loud, bold, and everyone knows who you are. When you enter a room, you truly make a statement. Everyone you meet remembers you.
Haha, not exactly how I’d describe myself Apparently Melanie and I are the same person lol. ALSO, I didn’t know any of those sayings were 00’s sayings??? I say cool beans and that’s hot and take a chill pill alllll the time.
Tasha: I got "The iPod wheel click" and lets face it when you first meet me, I am annoying. I talk way too much and way too loud. Eventually you get used to me though (or you call me out on it and I actively work on trying to not be so out there.)
Sarah: the click of the wheel on an ipod. you're energetic, talkative and sometimes annoying. lmaooo if this isn't accurate af then idk what is. i am who i am people and i'm not really sorry about it (particularly the energetic and talkative bit)
Madi: I got the "click of the wheel on an iPod" for my sound, which, according to buzzfeed is not how I actually am. I am not energetic and super talkative most of the time, but hey sure I don't mind the iPod clicking sound.
WHAT IS YOUR MERMAID TAIL COLOR
quiz here+
Melanie: Green (If it's good enough for Ariel, it's good enough for me!)
Shreya: Just like the ocean, you're larger than life. People love to be around you, and they enjoy your beauty.
Cho’s tail in the brightest pearl is blue so I’m satisfied
Tasha: Awww I was hoping for purple but I'll take green. It will go well with my red wig and purple seashells.
Sarah: red. you have a bold personality, and you don't apologize for it. you're fierce and fun. except in outfits on myself, i love red, i'm cool with this. it's probably look fire moving through the ocean
Madi: I got a blue mermaid tail! Blue is my favorite color so this makes me very happy.
WHICH NEW BOOK SHOULD YOU READ
quiz here+
Melanie: The Guest List by Lucy Foley (A murder at a wedding on an island off the coast of Ireland. With personal drama. *runs to buy it*)
Shreya: The Boyfriend Project by Farrah Rochon
"Samiah Brooks is a tech genius who has everything going for her: an amazing job, killer apartment, and hot new boyfriend. Except it turns out that her boyfriend is also dating two other women. After confronting him for cheating, she and the other women become friends and make a pact to take a break from men to focus on their goals. So Samiah's flirtation with the new guy in her office is very inconvenient, especially when she finds out that he's not exactly who he says he is."
OMG this seems like a lovely rom-com and if Jasmine Guillory likes it, then I’m sure I will too. And I definitely got this because I said my dream profession is software engineer
Tasha: I got The Guest List by Lucy Foley but let's face it we all know that I'm going to buy all the books, have them sit in my to read pile and quickly forget about them until someone asks me if I've read them. At which point I will say "No but it's on my list of things to read" before quickly forgetting about it again until the cycle repeats or I actually read the damn thing.
Sarah: mexican gothic by silvia morena-garcia.
"Noemí Taboada is a socialite who delights in parties, fancy dresses, seducing men, and anthropology. After receiving a garbled letter from her recently married cousin and dear friend Catalina, she travels to the distant village of High Place and the decaying mansion that is now Catalina’s home. There, she finds Catalina incoherent and lethargic while the family she’s married into exude white-colonialist patriarchy — except for the youngest son, Francis, whose shy demeanor and pallid looks are the exact opposite to the men Noemí typically enjoys. But in this rank home with no friends, Francis becomes an anchor for Noemí. Meanwhile, the house itself seeps into her dreams and slowly comes alive around her."
i actually added this to my want to read list on good reads sometime last month before it was even available to be purchased and i'm like dying to read it. like as soon as i finish the one i'm reading now, this is probably what i'm reading next. it looks so interesting and i literally can't wait!
Madi: I got A Song of Wraiths and Ruins by Roseanne A. Brown! I love a good YA Fantasy novel, and this sounds right up my alley with some mystery and secrets and a tumultuous love story.
