if you're new, welcome to fft! it's great to have you with us. we're a multi-fandom forum + archive with, including a year-long house cup. we have a strong culture of support for other writers and feedback here, including a story help section, challenges, and reviewing events, so if you're a writer, you've come to the right place.

a quick rundown to help you get started here on the forums: please post in the 'welcome to fft' topic +here to say that you've read over the rules and understand them. you can specify your house in that post or in our sorting ceremony +here - once you do, we'll sort you into the right group so you can see a common room that only people in your house are allowed to see. we encourage you to post in your common room and/or in our introductions forum +here to introduce yourself if you'd like, and you may also find our +faqs helpful.

applications for all staff, community coordinator, and house newsletter editor positions will be open from december 1 - december 10. there's no post count/join date limit, and you can apply for as many positions as you like - it's all on one application. a detailed rundown on how site staffing works can be found +here, and you can find the application +here.

if you applied in october or november, you don't need to apply again unless you'd like to apply for additional positions or change your answers - we'll still consider you this month.

we're very excited to invite everyone to the fairy princess's birthday party this month! you'll have to follow your guide through a mysterious archway to find the magical land with the castle where all the festivities are taking place. if anyone wants to add a fairy-theme to their name for december, please comment +here with what you'd like and i'll change it for you + change it back in january.

in the spirit of our holiday event, if you haven't seen our new default theme and would like to see the forums snowing all month, you should check it out - there are both light and dark options.

if you haven't checked out the community coordinators' recent +in the spotlight issue, we strongly recommend it - our ccs are amazing.

we're also moving our bulletin to the staff blog going forward. (your friendly neighborhood branwen may be x-posting old issues because she gets tense about organizing things. )

in addition, we're in the process of moving where our common rooms are located. we want to strongly emphasize that we are not removing common rooms and have no intention of doing so, and we also don't anticipate this significantly impacting your common room experience - you'll still have discussion areas. however, clubs also have some fun options we'd like to take advantage of and don't have with our current setup, and they also give us more room to add similar spaces for other fandoms as well in the future. since clubs are based on individual permissions rather than member group, you'll need to join your house's new common room to have access to it. staff members are inviting all members of the house to their new common rooms as they get them up and running, and you can also request to join your common room  +here.

our first head student is a talented writer and an amazing cheerleader, this month offering rewards to authors who hit their nano goals - including those aiming for less than the full 50,000 words. please join us in congratulating @shadowycorner!

our second head student has been a core part of her common room's activities and newsletter for ages, and lately, she's been hard at work reviewing every single drabble that was submitted to her recent challenge. please join us in also congratulating @Renacerá!

December's Order of Merlin recipient is one of our most hardworking behind-the-scenes staffers, @abhorsen.! Branwen has been doing a lot to update the FFT discord, moving the Common Rooms to clubs, background archive coding, and generally just keeping the site running smoothly as an Admin. She's got fics upon fics in her shenanigans universe and you can't tell her when to sleep but she's always down for a chat if you need it or if you have questions about spreadsheets. Thanks for being a great Admin and wearer-of-many-staff-hats, Branwen!
