if you're new, welcome to hpft! it's great to have you with us. we're a multi-fandom forum + archive with a harry potter lean, including a year-long house cup. we have a strong culture of support for other writers and feedback here, including a story help section, challenges, and reviewing events, so if you're a writer, you've come to the right place.

a quick rundown to help you get started here on the forums: please post in the 'welcome to hpft' topic +here to say that you've read over the rules and understand them. you can specify your house in that post or in our sorting ceremony +here - once you do, we'll sort you into the right group so you can see a common room that only people in your house are allowed to see. we encourage you to post in your common room and/or in our introductions forum +here to introduce yourself if you'd like, and you may also find our +faqs helpful.

applications for all staff, prefect, and house newsletter editor positions will be open from august 1 - august 10. there's no post count/join date limit, and you can apply for as many positions as you like - it's all on one application. a detailed rundown on how site staffing works can be found +here, and you can find the application +here.

if you applied in june or july, you don't need to apply again unless you'd like to apply for additional positions or change your answers - we'll still consider you this month.

With the finale and camp nano having come to an end, it is now time for a bit of a break while we await the final results of this year's House Cup! (Some houses might have a fun activity to look forward to in August though! )

Our first head student was a big part of their house's success in the finale, has posted a number of stories on the archive in the past couple months, and is always willing to lend a helping hand to their fellow writers over on the discord when they ask for help on their stories. Our second head student spent all of JulNo being incredibly productive, uploading more than 20 chapters over the course of the month, being super active in their NaNo journal, and replying to many of the reviews members left them over the course of the house cup finale. The Order of Merlin for August goes to one of our dear Gamekeepers that was instrumental in how well the Universiade House Cup finale event went last month! She's also a phenomenal fic writer and graphic maker who always down for a chat and sending silly gifs in the discord. Kris always comes up with great ideas and it's part of what makes each event so much fun! Furthermore, Kris does a lot of moderating on the forums and hangs out in the Earworm thread, which is always great fun to see what she's been listening to lately. Thanks for running such a fun finale event, Kris, and for all the hard work you put into HPFT!
