Dying/Grieving Recommendations

Okay, as strange as it feels to recommend stories about death and grieving...I also think it's important. Because these stories can be so stunning and can show such depth of human experience. Of course, please be aware that some of these recs are for stories that may contain triggering content. Read the story shells thoroughly before clicking through.

to dwell on dreams by @Stella Blue
Length/Completed: 3500 words / 1 chapter (complete)
Pairing(s): Lisa Turpin/Padma Patil, Padma Patil/Sally-Anne Perks, Sally-Anne Perks/Susan Bones, Lisa Turpin/Helena Ravenclaw
Genre(s): Angst, Drama, Romance
Summary:
and forget to live
but what does it mean to live?

Reasons for Recommendation: If you look at the list of pairings above and your first thought is, "Doesn't sound like my sort of story," let me stop you right there. "to dwell on dreams" is everyone's sort of story. It's an intensely honest portrayal of loss with an outstanding juxtaposition between what it means to be alive and what it means to no longer be. And then, from that, the story goes further and asks, "Sure, if this is the difference between life and death...what is the different between being alive and actually living?" This story is incredibly deep, not being afraid to ask hard questions and show that sometimes they don't always have easy answers. And it shows how incredibly hard it can be to move on when there's still so much in the past that you wish you could carry with you. It's really and truly one of the most lovely stories I've read, and the rare pairs only make it better.

Dreams and Dragons by @mymischiefmanaged
Length/Completed: 1771 words / 1 chapter (complete)
Pairing(s): Charlie Weasley/Nymphadora Tonks
Genre(s): Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Romance
Summary: They told me to write down the dreams. They said it might help, might make me more awake. I’m doing it so I can speak to you. My darling. My Nym.
Charlie never had a chance to properly love her before she died, but love her he did.
Reasons for Recommendation: Oof. This story will tear your heart out. I'm so sorry to be recommending something so heart-wrenching, but I also know that it can't be helped, because you deserve to read this and see just how amazing it is. Emma dives into Charlie's emotions in the wake of Tonks' death and doesn't shy away from the depression that hangs heavy in his life since losing her. What's more, this story has a lot of beautiful details that bring it to life, from holes in a sweater to painted fingernails to a vivid dreamscape that illustrates pain and nostalgia and loss and hope and so much more. This story is lovely.
