for those of you who don't know battelstar galactica is a sci fi tv show. probably best sci fi tv show i've ever watched and my ultimate favourite tv show ever.

reasons for recommending: this is my favourite battlestar galactica fic which makes zero sense because it really is just lee and kara being sociopaths. and yet, somehow, even in this version of the battlestar galactica universe they find each other and they see they’re the same and the fact that they’re sociopaths makes the endgame better. things aren’t *that* different from the series - the worlds do end, zak still dies, but lee and kara are the core that’s at the heart of this story, and even if they *are* sociopaths (not of the murder-y kind though), they somehow care about each other (love each other? seems impossible due to their nature) in this strange, unexplainable way.

reasons for recommending: another favourite, this one happens while both lee and kara are still at the academy, training to be viper pilots which is just hot in and of itself, am i right? but, they’ve been friends during their time at the academy and the chemistry between them is insane so when they decide to just be a couple of fuckboys, it doesn’t go well. i mean, it does, there’s lots of hot sex, but there’s also drama and some angst but it’s just perfect. i loved the setting of the academy and how it happens before the series starts.

reasons for recommending: i think this one is the best kara&lee longfic i’ve read. it’s a total au because kara doesn’t suffer a knee injury and instead of going to the academy to become a viper pilot she actually does end up going pro in pyramide. so when the worlds end, she’s on a vacation on the rising star spaceship, and when the fleet needs new viper pilots, of course she decides to apply. cue her and lee meeting the night before her training starts with sparks flying between them and them almost fucking on a bar, and of course it’s lee training her and things get messy and complicated and angsty but argh the chemistry is once again too real between them. i also really liked the au story, like not just the shipps parts of the story but the action and adventure were also really well written. and kara keeps calling lee *flyboy* which is just chef’s kiss

reasons for recommending: i love the way this fic is written, alternating between the now - a space fight with cylons, lee getting stranded and kara desperately hunting and killing raiders and trying to find them, and the past when they first met at the academy when lee was first annoyed by the fact that kara, just a third year cadet at the time, joined his flight group because even then she was a badass at flying. seeing their relationship develop is fantastic because it’s so well written, their banter is great, and in the *now* you just have to root for kara to find lee and from the first couple of sentences in the *now* you know they’re friends, more than that and...it’s a lovely story.

reasons for recommending: this is a totally au fic in which there’s no zak and so lee and kara meet by chance. and they develop a relationship (which is hot and their chemistry is insane as usual) but there’s always something keeping them apart, even if not fully. and then the worlds end and they once again meet and lee’s her cag and she’s his pilot but who cares about regulations when even thinking a day ahead is dangerous, right? i loved seeing the two of them develop a relationship outside of what we know is canon, kara first being with zak and then lee and her having a thing for each other and i also liked the action and plot in this story.

reasons for recommending: this is a bit of a different spin on the classic lee/kara fics because lee decides to stay back on caprica during the first hours of the attacks after his ship runs out of countermeasures and he sends sharon on her way back to galactica so he spends quite a bit of time there, meets helo and sharon (finds out quickly she’s a cylon) and eventually they meet the resistance. meanwhile kara is on the galactica like she was in the series and this is just a really big, sprawling tale about how they find each other again and how they reconnect. i really enjoyed this alternate universe take on the events of the series and it was easy to imagine lee making the choices that he does in the fic.
