Pixileanin Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 (edited) Hey guys! I'm not really *here*, but I'm "here", so I thought I'd post HERE for now. I'm not gonna split my focus, so I'll be putting up notes in my WJ for this. Happy JulNaNo everyone! Continuing my OF journey for the Magical Investigators story that I hope to turn into some kind of series. I have no specific title, so it's labeled "Magical Investigators 1" for now. So far, I have two large notebooks of handwritten planning following a How To Write a Series course, a bunch of notes on characters and plot threads, 55k of first drafty drafted words after which I hit a really impressive wall which drove me to go back to the outline, a revised summary outline (as of this morning) and two weeks of intensive Scrivner diving, where I will be continuing my project. I am happy to talk Scrivner learning curves and how to deal with writing walls anytime! Edited July 6, 2024 by Pixileanin 1 Quote
Pixileanin Posted July 12, 2024 Author Posted July 12, 2024 Soo... I didn't just come online to fight for tea survival rights in the other thread. (Though it was a good bonus!) I actually came to report a clarity moment that happened just moments ago. My MC, Marcus Chancey, has made a career out of undoing magic. I mean, I thought I knew that already, but not in those specific terms. He's a cursebreaker. He breaks curses. Naturally, that means he disassembles magic. But that also means he's got a penchant for taking things apart. He likes to set things free. He enjoys reverse-engineering things and leaning into the chaos of life, and all those other implications I could make about that. Which leads me to the reason why he's so against the new Central Command that has popped up to make magic "safe for the world". He hates this idea, I had thought, because he's already doing his part. But I think I have more of a rebel on my hands than I initially thought. Anyway, happy NaNo to everyone! Enjoy your TEA! 1 Quote
