banshee
I'm looking for a name for a black male that would go with the last name Zabini. He's a TV star, (this is for Between Takes, he's on the show Hogwarts like Scorpius and Susie). He plays Scorpius' character Basil's "rival" in Hogwarts. The Draco to his Harry, essentially. Any ideas?
FireOpal
Well, as Blaise is a French name, maybe you want a French name for this Zabini too? If so, may I suggest my favourite French male name, Damien?
abhorsen.
^ Along similar lines, what about: - Corbin - Edmond - Elliot - Lucien - Marc - Sébastien
grumpy cat
which sounds better: quinn jones or imogen jones? it's for an OC - she's a little bit, eh, not different, just maybe not typical girl-y girl but not so much in a tomboy-ish way, more like the "cool girl" from gone girl

But I think Quinn might suit your description a little better? But both names are quite good.
beyond the rain
@starbuck ^I love the name Imogen too! You should definitely go for that. SO I'm planning a snamione fic right not, and my main character is snape and hermione's daughter. I'm having a difficult time naming her. I was thinking of going for Emily Snape, after Emily Bronte (because hermione would be into wuthering heights and we all know it.) . But I've also had Enid in mind because of Enid Blyton, Helena, or Millicent - which would be shortened to Millie. I'm also unsure as to whether I should call her Granger-Snape, or just Snape. Some background info on her: She's intelligent, but different to her parents in that she's a bit more insecure about it, and doesn't like people to know. She likes to read, but not non-fiction or theory, she prefers muggle and magic children's books. As it stands I think I'd sort her in ravenclaw - but I think she could end up in any house (this is all very useless info i'm sure) And here is the fc I had in mind [1, 2, 3] If you have any other suggestions I'd definitely be willing to hear them. I have no idea if I'm about to be helpful in the slightest, but I will try! Emily suits the fc, but I always find it hard to remember MCs with super popular names. But that's probably just me While Millie is super adorable, I have to point out the Hermione had some unpleasant interactions with Millicent Bulstrode. Another idea - if they named her after Snape's mother, she could be Eileen, with or without a nickname. (Eily, maybe?) My vote is for Granger-Snape And whatever you name her, she sounds adorable!! beyond the rain
I have returned with alternatives (I mean Emily's currently my favourite) BUT Maisie - I feel like Severus probably wouldn't like this name, but I think it's adorable Verity - it means 'truth' and I think both of them would be about that too Holly - Holly Granger-Snape just sounds really cute so if anyone could help me decide between the current fave and the new list I'd appreciate it. And tysm @MuggleMaybe - I would go for Eileen, but I prefer to do that with middle names. But if I go for a double barrel name, I'll probably avoid giving her a middle name - it'll be too much of a mouthful! Haha Thank you so much for all the useful suggestions though <

Simplicius
I've got two that have stumped me: I'm struggling to come up with a first name for Mrs Figg's late husband. He was born in the mid forties, a pure-blood and a Gryffindor. He was something like a gentler Sirius Black; rebellious, goodnatured and forthright. I'm struggling to find something which is archaic but neither odd nor pretentious. The other one is a writer for the Prophet; a political commentator who defends Fudge's decisions after the tournament. He's acerbic and aesthete, sarcastic and a bit of a contrarian. Basically a wizard Christopher Hitchens. He's a Muggle-born Gryffindor. My only thoughts were Tom or John something.

Witty Wayfarer
This character is the oldest daughter of a blended family (she has a twin sister which I also need a name for). She has a younger brother who is also very smart. She has a tense relationship with her stepbrother who is a year younger than her. She's Bill Weasley's partner in curse-breaking She's a year older than Charlie at Hogwarts (her and her twin were born in early August 1972. ). She's also his eventual love interest. She's loosely inspired by a character named Dana Foster from Step by Step (A 90s show I"ve been watching on Hulu lately) She's a Muggle-born, she's rather smart and adventurous and a Ravenclaw nearly a Hufflepuff. Her sister was a Gryffindor while her brother was also a Ravenclaw. I had Esme in mind

grumpy cat
@Hufflepuffbookworm1990 well, if you use Willow, at least you've got alliteration i just googled it and Esme could be short for Esmeralda and i'm not sure you want that? except if she's spanish, then that could work. Since's she's a muggle born her mum or deceased dad could've been a fan of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' and named their oldest Esmeralda but she goes by Esme. Her twin sister's name is Ruby so I wanted her name to fit the theme of gemstones.
Witty Wayfarer
What's a good name for a female OC that is the niece of Patricia Rakepick? The OC is half Asian (her mum is Japanese.).She looks more Asian but with blue eyes from her dad's side of the family. I haven't decided if she has an older brother who looks more like the Rakepick side of the family with lighter hair and dark brown eyes.
roisin
Hello! Sorry I'm on kind of a posting spree but gahhhh this is such an awesome community and when I was on the HPFF forums way back when, it was amazing! I'm beyond thrilled that this exists for ORIGINAL FICTION. Anyway I'm trying to sort out some character surname stuff and I figured I'd open it up to suggestions! Right now I'm looking for last-names for the following: Hannah (white, 21, faceclaim) An Irish name, more on the Irish American side. Preferably two syllables (I was thinking Grady?) Zoe (Chinese American and white, 16, faceclaim) A Cantonese name -- but it can't be Chu, Gee, Wong, or Zhao -- hyphenated with a WASP name. Jess (white, 44, faceclaim) Eastern European (maybe Hungarian or Czech). Kai (Black American, 19, faceclaim Something along the lines of "Coates" -- not among the most common surnames, but like a "oh yeah that name" kind of American name. Ideally two or three syllables. Belen (Latina and white, 28, she sorta defies faceclaims): Nordic/Scandinavian. Razia (Pakistani American, 31, haven't found a decent fc yet): Maybe something that relates to healthcare? Now here's the kicker, the letters N, F, R, C, P, B, K, J, Z and H are all off limits. And, each of the characters' surnames have to start with a different letter. While this be madness, there's method in it I promise! Thank you!
