Guest pookha
Now that the archives have been open for a while, we have noticed that most rejections come from just a few reasons. Common rejections Missing advisories: On a Windows computer, to select multiple advisories from the list you will need to hold down the CTRL key while choosing them. On a Mac, you will need to hold down Command key while choosing. Multiple chapters in the queue: Only two chapters are allowed to be submitted at a time. If you submit more than two chapters at the same time, we will reject all but the first two out of hand. You may submit any number of edits at a time, but remember that while the edits are in the queue, they are not visible to your readers and a large number of edits will also increase the queue time for others; please be reasonable in your number of edits. Hate Speech: This is the most common missing advisory that will result in rejection. If you use an insult that directed at someone and is typically gendered, it is necessary for the fic to be rated M and have the hate speech advisory. I will not list all of the hate speech components here, but I will list the most common one that will lead to rejection. “Bitch.” If this term is being used to insult someone, it has to be M rated and have the hate speech advisory. Example: “She’s a bitch (or any other term on the hate speech tutorial).” If used to describe something, it does not require the hate speech advisory, but should be rated T at least. Example: “That test was a bitch.” “I wish he’d quit bitching about being grounded.” If you are rejected: Don’t Panic! (Thank you Douglas Adams). Unless you’re consistently being rejected for the same reasons, it won’t usually count against you. When you edit a story, if you only edit the advisories, but not the story itself, it will NOT show back up in the queue. This is a known quirk of the archive’s software, and we are looking at it. You MUST edit the story itself somehow. A good workaround is to just insert an extra space after your last sentence and the chapter should show back up in the queue.
