[glow=limegreen,2,300]Care of Magical Creatures OWL[/glow]

Congratulations - you’ve found your Care of Magical Creatures OWL! We do like to avoid taking OWL students into too much danger, which is why we're on the edge of the forest... but if you continue on to take your NEWT in this class, don't expect us to go easy on you there.

This is one of your elective OWLs, and taking it is purely optional. If you're ready to start it, you must post in this thread prior to making any of the posts/reviews/stories it requires.

Be aware that though you are free to begin this exam at any time, once you sit down your house cannot begin another exam until you’ve completed this one. Keep in mind that the higher your score, the more points you'll earn, and you may find that a higher mark is a prerequisite to moving onto another exam or area.his is one of your electives. You are free to begin this exam at any time, but once you start it, your house cannot begin another exam until you’ve completed this one. Taking this exam is entirely optional - but know that the more magic you master, the more abilities you’ll find that you have, and you'll need to complete it to have access to other areas of the maze. Your guidelines for passing are listed below; keep in mind that the higher your score, the more points you'll earn, and you may find that a higher mark is a prerequisite to moving onto another exam or area.

Please note that for the purposes of this elective, "beast" is defined as any creature mentioned in either the textbook or the movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, or similar creatures (e.g., direwolves). Neither the stories written nor the reviews left must be based in the Harry Potter universe.

To receive an A-Acceptable:

  • As a house, write at least 300 words total featuring magical beasts and post it on HPFT’s archive. You may write them in any format, including poetry, and you may distribute them among housemates however you wish.
  • As a house, leave three reviews on any chapters on the archive mentioning any magical beast.

To receive an E-Exceeds Expectations:

  • As a house, write at least 500 words total featuring magical creatures and post it on HPFT’s archive. You may write them in any format, including poetry, and you may distribute thing among housemates however you wish.
  • As a house, leave six reviews on chapters on the archive featuring any magical beast.

To receive an O-Outstanding:

  • As a house, write a story of at least 400 words featuring unicorns and post it on HPFT’s archive. You must also write an additional 400 words featuring magical beasts - you may include some or all of that in your unicorn story (e.g., one 800-word story about unicorns would fulfill this writing requirement). You may write them in any format, including poetry, and you may distribute these tasks among housemates however you wish.
  • As a house, leave ten reviews on chapters on the archive featuring any magical beast.

Please do not include any indication that requirements for this exam are linked to the house cup outside of your house, either in the posts/reviews/stories themselves or on social media. You only have one chance to submit your exam, so choose what mark you want to aim for carefully. Once you've completed these tasks to your liking, post a reply to this topic including all of the relevant links.

Should you run into difficulties, you’re free to take a fail - but be aware that you won’t be able to change your mind later, and it may result in other areas of the maze and exams (along with any advantages passing them bestows) becoming permanently inaccessible to you even if you can find them the exams themselves.
