So this is my first entry, yay!

this is a snippet based on the first line 'I was minding my own business when love came and hit me in the eye' 

the characters from this are all OCs from my next gen novel. The novel is told from Lettie's POV but this snippet is told from an OC, Mia Power's POV.  It takes place before 'Blush' starts.

I was minding my own business when love came and hit me in the eye. I cringed because it sounded like something that Lettie would say but it happened. I wasn’t sure that I believed in love at first sight like Lettie did but I’m obviously easily swayed because all it took was being hit in the eye with a paper ball. I came to Potions late for the first time ever and my normal seat next to my best friend, Lettie, was taken. I don’t know why Louis Weasley seems to have made himself a permanent fixture in our lives currently, it was he that occupied my normal seat. Lettie gave me an apologetic smile upon my arrival. My life would be so much easier if I was like Cash, she would have just elbowed him out of the way and sat down anyway. I smiled politely back but raised my eyebrows at Lettie as I retreated into Louis’ normal seat a couple of rows back.

 

“Hi…” I mumbled to Ryan Jordan. He didn’t seem to pay too much attention to my presence as I sat down next to him. He seemed to have an animated but nearly silent conversation with Louis which included a lot of hand gestures.

 

I was getting out my book and scales out of my bag. I didn’t notice in time that Ryan had ducked as a large paper ball went sailing through the air, its flight stopped as it connected with my face.  Ryan turned to me looking mildly horrified.

 

“I’m so sorry, Mia!” he said quickly as he twisted around to fully focus on me.

 

I felt myself reddened as his eyes were upon me. I think it was a very bad time to notice how attractive he was. He had those big warm brown eyes which were fixed on me so intently, he was concerned about me. Upon seeing that I wasn’t hurt, his face split into a grin. I guess I hadn’t paid any attention to him. His smile instantly made me beam back at him, I couldn’t help myself. We just stared at each other for a moment, our eyes just fixed on each other, nearly identical smiles painted on our faces. It was an oddly private moment which was only broken by high pitched shriek from Lettie. Our eye contact broken as our heads snapped towards Lettie and Louis’ desk when Lettie’s long chestnut hair appeared to be on fire.

 

“Lettie!”

BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSH!

YES! SO MUCH YES! Considering where Mia and Ryan are in the story currently, this little snippet gives me hope for future chapters. It's such a cute fall in love story! Actually, in hindsight, it's a little screwy. He ducked the onslaught attack of the vicious paper ball sailing through the air to let it hit her in the face. I just. Can't stop laughing.

Oh, so that's when Lettie caught her hair on fire...
