Pixileanin
Doing this thing. Sorry I put my post in the wrong spot at first, but I think I've gotten it right this time. First Line: "The blood on the walls almost seemed decorative." The blood on the wall almost seemed decorative. He lowered the knife to consider the circular blob where it hit first, and then spread in an irregular circular shape around the first impact. Almost web-like, he thought. The subsequent splatters had landed in an elliptical pattern, emphasizing the appearance of something a large, carnivorous spider would have created. If such a creature existed, it would likely be poisonous. He'd bet money on that. If he was a betting man... at one time in the not-so-distant past, he had been. Unfortunately, he didn't have a cent to his name. That was one of the reasons he was surrounded by four white walls. No wait, make that three white walls and one with... the color had surprised him. It had come out so dark, a blueish brown instead of the crimson he had expected. He guessed that had something to do with the weeks of reluctant procrastinating he had done before sinking this low. And the hunger. It could be the hunger that was driving him now. He raised the knife again and hacked away at the thick membrane surrounding his prize. He was neither skilled nor careful, and that caused its own mess, this time all over the floor. The steel table shook with his efforts, until finally, he was able to squeeze his fingers around the organ and lift it out of the dead cavity. It had taken far too long, and he was far too behind to admire it properly. Instead, he plopped the thing into the glass jar behind him and quite unceremoniously dragged the remains off the table, letting the limbs tumble to a heap on the floor. "Twenty-three more," he said, looking pointedly at the pile of pig carcasses in the other corner of the room. He needed all twenty-four pig's hearts in that jar before they fed him and let him sleep. Hopefully the deal came with a hot shower, but he'd take anything he could get. At least there weren't any flies.
