northbound24 Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 Hello there! *raises a glass of cider in welcome* I'm one of the communities newer members. I've written one story on the archives A Halloween Wake which was for the Prefect Fall Challenge. I was on HPFF but my works never seemed to work out so I felt the need to rethink whether fanfic or creative writing was for me. I came back to creative writing via a website called Visual Verse, an image is given as a prompt each month and the aim is to write a 50-500 word story for the image in an hour. The submitted works are then published on the website. Link to mine written under my real name: here Then Fantastic Beasts arrived. (Though I have the Cursed Child script book, I consider it poor. The only interesting element of it is the time travel angle but it feels too horribly executed to be effective) However FB and Crimes of Grindelwald opened up the concept I'd been interested in from the start of Half-Blood Prince, the type of people Dumbledore befriends or steers through life because he feels he let Aberforth and Ariana down through his own arrogance. The character of Eddie Teague in A Halloween Wake has bounced around my mind for years in different forms- he was McGonagall's grandson in one or two stories I attempted. He was however always tied to Dumbledore's vision story-wise as a big brother type figure for Harry (the type of brother who'd consider the whole 'Boy who Lived' thing irrelevant but Harry's constant knack for trouble a pain in the ass) I do have two new ideas in mind currently- both in the Halloween Wake universe: Untitled Christmas 1926 story- Being Albus Dumbledore's oldest friend means you're used to him surprising you. But arriving home on Christmas Eve to find him with the President of MACUSA on your doorstep takes the cake. Jimmy Teague knows he's going to be needing a stiff drink for this. The Future is Ever-changing- It's 1898 and the first Hogsmeade trip of the school year for the new seventh years Jimmy Teague and Heather Parkinson leads to pregnancy and thus a future child. Jimmy and Heather balance their soon to be parental roles with keeping their friend group stable but with Professor Phineas Nigellus Black around that proves difficult I hope to answer questions from you all!
northbound24 Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 THE CHARACTERS OF 'THE FUTURE IS EVER-CHANGING' POST 1 MAIN STUDENT CHARACTERS JAMES HENRY 'JIMMY' TEAGUE- 7th year Ravenclaw. The 'eternally unkempt' son of Professor Obadiah Teague and one of the more grounded members of Ravenclaw House. Close friend of fellow seventh years Albus Dumbledore and Horace Slughorn. A half-blood who unintentionally finds himself involved in the various schemes of other students. HEATHER PARKINSON- 7th year Slytherin. The oldest of the five pureblood illegitimate daughters of singer Dovecote Parkinson and her manager Fintan Rosier. A talented Herbologist with pro-Muggle beliefs. ALBUS PERCIVAL WULFRIC BRIAN DUMBLEDORE- Described by Obadiah Teague as 'the nearest wizardin' answer to Leonardo da Vinci' the Hogwarts head boy is an multi-talented student excelling in all fields but this makes him unpopular with some. HORACE EUSTACE FLACCUS SLUGHORN- The well-connected son of a Ministry official who is exceptionally skilled in potions and a 'dab hand at Defence of the Dark Arts' but prefers his creature comforts. Dubs himself, Albus and Jimmy as 'The Holy Trinity' much to Jimmy's annoyance.
nott theodore Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 Hi! I'm here with a few questions after reading Fortune and Glory for my challenge 1. I noticed a lot of your characters have regional accents. Do you have a favourite accent to write? 2. Your descriptions of Godric's Hollow are so effective. Where do you get inspiration for your settings? 3. Gellert has a prominent role in Fortune and Glory and I found your portrayal really interesting - do you have a lot of head canon for him? 4. Your depiction of the Ministry was really intriguing. Do you mainly take the canon information as inspiration or do you use a variety of influences?
magemadi Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Dave! I know it's been ages since you posted in here, but I figured I'd show you some love (and ask some questions) now that you've got some great stuff up on the archives! 1. You've got quite the extended "Teague Family" universe now up on the archives in the form of various stories. Did all of this stem from A Halloween Wake, or did you have broader ideas already planned after that fic? 2. Of the Teague family members you've written/showcased so far in your fics, who is your favorite to write and who is your least favorite to write? Why? 3. What's next on your plate in terms of fic writing? 4. From the Fantastic Beasts films, who has been your favorite character to see so far and why?
