Alexis Black Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Hello, everyone! After sticking my toes in the waters with recording a few stories for the holiday Wishlists, I decided it was time to take the plunge. General Things to Know: I was raised well below the Mason Dixon line on the East Coast of the US, so while I do try to keep the twang to a minimum, inevitably my Southern accent slips out. I suggest you listen to a few of the podfics I’ve previously made to help determine whether you feel my voice suits your story. Always [T] Slowly, slowly [M] On occasion, I’ve been known to do an exaggerated Southern accent to parody a story. But bless your sweetheart, why would you want to do that to your precious tale? Growing up, Spanish was spoken in my home. I know a smattering of the language and can pull off a decent accent, particularly short phrases that, um, no digas delante de tu abuelita, if you know what I mean. Just don’t give me huge blocks of Spanish to read - I’d mutilate it. Speaking of accents, I cannot imitate a decent British one to save my life. Nor can I do voices. Music! If you clicked on some of my previous recordings, you might have heard one (or two) with music at the beginning. The ones I use have proper licensing for such use and I’m more than happy to include one at the start your story. However, if you’d rather provide the music piece, please be aware it must comply with the WWN guidelines and receive approval before I include it in the recording. Let’s keep Paula happy and not breach copyright law, ok? Rules One slot open at a time - that’s all I’m committing to right now. Please do not post after the slot has been filled. I’ll update the thread to indicate when the slot is open again. Turn-around should be a week. Feel free to nudge me if I haven’t gotten back to you before then. I’ll gladly accept multi-chaptered stories, but only one chapter at a time. I’d prefer stories/chapters that don’t exceed 5k words. However, if you’re relatively close to that mark, we might be able to work something out. I reserve the right to decline any request based on my schedule or anything outlined in the section below. What I'll Record Just about anything. No, seriously. Look at this list: Severus Snape Sex scenes/Smut Violence/Abuse Dark/Horror AU Founders Era/Marauders Era/Hogwarts Era What I Won't Record Anything that violates HPFT/WWN rules. Make-your-teeth-ache saccharine-sweet cotton-candy (or cotton floss) won’t-melt-in-your-mouth style of F-L-U-F-F. Just no. I’m not your gal for the fluff-stuff. I have very limited experience with the LQBTQA genre as a whole and would prefer not to record fics that feature primarily LGBTQA characters and/or ‘ships. I ask that you respect my decision to decline the recording of any fics that are primarily centered around this particular genre at this time, as it is out of my comfort zone.
