galadriel Posted April 13, 2019 Posted April 13, 2019 nim's drabble thread Prompt: Use the below colour palette as inspiration for a drabble! You have full freedom with the way you interpret it and use it. Quote At times, it’s the pastel pink of a sunburst sky at twilight - a yearning for the outdoors, the kiss of a light drizzle, a conversation over chai and cut mangoes. It fills me with a serene joy. Other times, it’s a dull muted grey that casts a tint over the world, vibrant colours becoming muddy and dim, details blending into one another slowly, like the steady slide of a paint drop swirling and branching down a canvas. There’s no way to separate the strokes, discern start or end. Grey is a jagged inner chasm to be slept away. It is bad today, everything clouded, eyes heavy, brain throbbing with an ache. Chopin’s Nocturne fills the room, volume turned up as far as it can go. I used to cry to this, pain enveloping me with the rise of the piano, tears immortalised in blotched ink. Everything is muted now. The music is distant. I cannot feel it. I’ve been sitting here, pen to paper, staring at a blank page for hours. They say melancholy gives rise to poetry, but this isn’t melancholy. This is its absence. wc: 182
