Beyondwizardingworld Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 Currently, I’m working on a fanfiction. Nothing special, huh? Well... You can imagine my idea like a mix between Harry Potter (outta Hogwarts), Eureka and Stargate. – Yes! You read rightly. VaguelyCreativeName Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 I wouldn't worry too much about clichés - the way you describe it certainly sounds very original! And even if you do use plot points you might consider cliché, there's nothing inherently bad about it. There's always a way to put your own spin even on an old, well-tested concept, and a lot of people enjoy reading about the same clichés and tropes, anyway - these concepts are popular for a reason, and I know there are things I've read in a thousand different ways already, but can't get enough of! Otherwise, if you have any specific questions, you can always post those in the story help section, too, or you could even try the Betas Offered Thread if you're looking for someone to work with you on your story! We've such a strong focus on support and feedback, you'll usually get great responses!

Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Beyondwizardingworld Posted May 29, 2019 Author Posted May 29, 2019 @Noelle Zingarella Well... It won't be a cheesy strg+c strg+v-just-with-my-own-OC-fanfiction. But science fiction and fantasy are genres, which have many clichés traps. So...
