down-in-flames Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 The first step in running a campaign is, obviously, launching it! But in order to launch a campaign, you’ve got to have a candidate first. As writers, you’re all no strangers to creating characters - and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing this week. Together with your housemates, you’re going to create your candidate: give them a face and a life story! Once you’ve got your candidate, it’s time for you to launch your campaign! This is where you establish your presence in the field, so making a good first impression is key. You want to make the start of your campaign something to remember, and how do you do that? With a catchy phrase, of course! Every campaign needs a good slogan, as well as some campaign posters to start getting some of that all-important name recognition. In addition, your whole campaign staff should start promoting your candidate themselves! To do this, we ask that your House creates a signature set featuring your candidate faceclaim and campaign slogan, and change your signature sets to match. NOTE: These are not due until the end of Week 2. So, to recap, your first week consists of the following tasks: Identify a faceclaim for your candidate Write a biography of your candidate This can be anything you want it to be, as long as it’s between 450 and 550 words. Devise a slogan for your campaign No length limit here, but remember: the best slogans are ones that are short and snappy! Create a poster for your candidate This must include both the faceclaim and the campaign slogan, and should fit the traditional poster graphic size of 600 pixels wide by 800 pixels tall. Start working on your signature sets These should follow the traditional signature set sizes of 500 pixels wide by 200 pixels wide for the signature, 100 pixels by 100 pixels for the icon. As a reminder, these don’t need to be completed until the end of Week 2, so you’ve got two weeks for this task. Deliverables for Week 1 (due by 20 June at 11:59 PM EST): Faceclaim, bio, slogan, and poster Start a thread in your common room named ‘House Cup Campaign Deliverables’ to use as your submission point throughout the duration of the House Cup. Make a post in there including all four of these components. Tag @down-in-flames, @grumpy cat, and @something wicked in the post to notify your campaign specialists of its completion. You will be scored based on completion of these four items, and bonus points will be awarded to the House whose candidate makes the best first impression. You can earn up to 350 points this week.
