down-in-flames Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 Now that you’ve advertised, made your policy points, and debated your opponents, it’s time to connect with your constituents! In order to win votes, you need to show people what your candidate will do to support them. And how do we support people on HPFT? Reviews! Over the course of the week, you and your campaign team should work together to leave the following review quantities: 5 reviews for members (staff excluded) of each opposing House (15 total) 15 reviews for members (staff excluded) of your own house 1 review per staff member (16 total) 5 reviews for stories having the following themes (10 total) for clarification, a story only needs one of the themes, not both, but you must do 5 total for each theme Gryffindor: law/politics, discrimination Hufflepuff: dying/grieving, slow build/burn Ravenclaw: friendship, careers Slytherin: friends to lovers, war 5 reviews for stories having the following genres (10 total) for clarification, a story only needs one of the genres, not both, but you must do 5 total for each genre Gryffindor: angst, romance Hufflepuff: action/adventure, fluff Ravenclaw: dark/horror, drama Slytherin: humor, crime/mystery 5 reviews for stories that are: original fiction, non-HP (10 total) Of course, these are only minimum quantities. You can leave additional reviews in any of the categories for bonus points per review. Reviews should follow the following quality standards: Quote All reviews must be left on the HPFT archive. These reviews must be new and written for the event. Reviews must include 750 characters, including spaces but not including greetings and sign-offs or substantial asides. Spending a sentence talking about why Petunia is your favorite character and then talking about the author's depiction of her is great; spending most of the review talking about why Petunia is your favorite character and then including a sentence about the story itself is not. Keyboard smashes do not count toward the character count. The tone of the review can be as casual or formal as you'd like, but the content must be relevant to the story being reviewed in some way. [When working in groups, you may not claim stories you're planning to review in advance. If you aren't actively working on the review and can't have it posted within half an hour or so, please allow other members to jump in instead. It's fine to indicate that you're actively reviewing a story.] Deliverables for Week 5 (due by 19 July at 11:59 PM EST): Make a thread in your common room dedicated to the reviewing event. You may post as few or as many reviews at a time as you like, but be sure to tag @down-in-flames, @grumpy cat, and @something wicked each time your House completes a category. If a review doesn’t meet the standards, we’ll let you know ASAP so that you can drum up a replacement if needed. Excluding bonus points for reviews beyond the 76 above, you can earn up to 576 points this week.
Aphoride Posted July 13, 2019 Posted July 13, 2019 Just to clarify: I'm assuming if I review a story by a Gryffindor which is dark/horror and with the friendship theme, it can only count for one (1) of those categories, despite fitting in three (3)? So I have to pick which category to put it in? (Otherwise, yk, this gets kinda simple )

Sorry to be a bother, but just to clarify, should we put the links to the completed reviews in the Reviewing Event Thread or in the Deliverables Thread?

EDIT: NEVERMIND I RE-READ THE INSTRUCTIONS MORE CLOSELY, IGNORE MY STUPIDITY

just.a.willow.tree Posted July 14, 2019 Posted July 14, 2019 The rules said “any of the categories” so that includes every category listed, right (other Houses’ stories, staff members’ stories, themes, genres)? Since that’s what is written in the rules?
