down-in-flames Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 As you embrace the last-minute rush of campaign season, there’s one thing left on your task list: earning endorsements. There are two types of endorsements you’ll need to earn - staff endorsements, and organization endorsements - and you’ll claim each of these in different ways. Each staffer has three lobbying platforms that they stand for; in order to earn an endorsement from a staffer, you’ll need to be able to identify the three platforms that staffer stands for. (Note: the underlying information for all of these platforms can be found somewhere on the forums or archives.) There are 15 staffers to claim; each House is allotted a minimum of three staff endorsements, and the last three can be claimed by any House (AKA the division could fall as 6-3-3-3, or 4-4-4-3, or 3-5-4-3). You’ll claim staffers one at a time, but bonus points will be awarded for getting additional staffers correct, as well as bonus points for getting all 45 platforms correctly distributed. The platforms are as follows: Spoiler Professors to be paid extra for classes that exceed 30 students. Bring back tying jackets or shirts around waists so you never have to be too cold or warm. Gamers who win platinum trophies to be awarded special awards. End feline homelessness! Create DMLE Special Auror Division to combat counterfeiting. Magical modifications of muggle vehicles should be legal and subsidized by the Ministry Be scary beyond all reason. Light up all the witches. Establish a day nursery for working the working Mums of MoM. Make spectrespecs a part of the Hogwarts uniform. Increase funding for the care of magical endangered creatures. Require businesses to offer flexible hours to accommodate night owls. Some wind up wounded, not even dead. We must increase access to treatment for veterans of the Wizarding Wars. Human language appears to be a unique phenomenon, without significant analogue in the animal world. The archive needs more Fake Dating AU’s. Funding for an expansion of St. Mungo’s to include psychological services. Lower Statute of Secrecy restrictions on siblings of Muggleborn children. Greater funding required for sports. The games have only just begun! House elves deserve reparation for generations of enslavement which should be paid by a tax on the wealthiest of pureblood and halfblood families. Conduct holds forth a considerable significance over comments. Members of the Wizengamot must be held accountable for their behavior. Make excessive swearing acceptable in professional settings. Coke is the superior caffeinated beverage. Abolish solitary confinement! The ways of Azkaban are inhumane. Three things to remember: As long as you’re dancing, you can break the rules. Sometimes breaking the rules is just extending the rules. Sometimes, there are no rules. Tea is the superior caffeinated beverage. S.N.A.K.E.S. deserve a voice too. Establish a Superiority Complex tax for scientists who insist on making everything sound Too Complicated. Homophones should be banned. From now on if two words sound the same they must have the same spelling. Hogwarts students are severely lacking in their Potions abilities. We need to rework our curriculum and focus more time on this crucial subject. Coffee is the superior caffeinated beverage. Give tax credits for excessive use of abbreviations. Every town should have a funded community garden for the aesthetic. Institute foreign language education at Hogwarts. More funding for the arts. Abolish capital letters. No one is ever gonna come up with a book, or a painting, or a symphony, or a sculpture that can compete with a great city. Eliminate Hogwarts Houses. Tax the writing of fluff. Mandatory vacation days for all dogs. Review everything everywhere. Hogwarts graduates must spend a year living with muggles and without the use of magic prior to any job at the Ministry Mandatory angst in everything. More government-funded events celebrating Gryffindor House. Brunch is the most superior meal and should be a mandatory meal served everyday. Government funding for unlimited study abroad programs during post-Hogwarts education. Coming up with a proposition that will get an organization to endorse you is… puzzling, to say the least. In order to claim an endorsement, you’ll need to solve, you guessed it, a puzzle. There are 5 different types of puzzles along with riddle sets. You can only claim one endorsement per category, but additional puzzles solved are worth bonus points. Spoiler Halfway down the slant I reside To offer services far and wide, Where Light and King both collide: The White Wave is to confide For a darkness to preside. How to claim an endorsement (staffer OR puzzle): Make a thread in your common room solely dedicated to endorsement claims. When you’re ready to make a claim - aka you’ve got a set of three facts that you believe belong to a staffer, you’ve solved a puzzle, or you’ve finished a riddle set - post in that thread and tag @down-in-flames, @grumpy cat, and @something wicked. We’ll confirm whether or not you’ve made that claim; additionally, for both riddles and fact matching, if you fail to make the claim but are at least partially correct, we’ll tell you how many parts you got correct (but not which parts). We’ll keep an updated list in this thread of all claims made, so you’ll be able to see other Houses’ claims as well; remember, solving each puzzle is worth points, so even though you can’t claim a puzzle that’s already been claimed, you can earn bonus points for it. Deliverables for Week 6 (due by 28 July at 11:59 PM EST) At the end of the week, create one final post in your House Cup Deliverables thread: your ballot application. The application should include everything you’ve created over the past 6 weeks, in the following format: Spoiler GENERAL INFORMATION Candidate Name: Slogan: Poster: Bio: ADVERTISEMENTS Tweets: Picspams: Audio: Video: POLICY STANCES Policy #1: Policy #2: Policy #3: DEBATE APPEARANCES Response #1: Response #2: Response #3: ENDORSEMENTS Staffer Endorsements: Other Endorsements: (you'll receive graphics for each endorsement you claim that should be included here) You can earn up to 1308 points this week.

just.a.willow.tree Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 @down-in-flames @grumpy cat @something wicked In the cryptograms, there's a list of 'letters' lining the top of each. And the third one from the end is a combination of two previous 'letters,' and we were wondering whether this meant that every time that pair of letters shows up in the actual cryptogram, it will be the 'combo letter' as opposed to the two letters just being next to one another. I'm so sorry if that didn't make sense? Also, are all the riddles HP related? Thank you

magemadi Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 Hi it's me again with probably a stupid question but as I'm generally terrible at riddles, here it is: For each of the riddle sets, does each riddle have a different "answer"? So Riddle Set #1 has 3 different "answers"? Also, are they all HP-themed or generalized riddles? EDIT: Also, in crossword #1, there's a #19 but it's not on either the across or down lists, so I can't get that word NVM, it's just mislabeled as 16 instead of 19. @grumpy cat @something wicked @down-in-flames
