grandchild Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 and she's back! first things first: hi, i'm spencer. get some coffee, some oreos (double stuf ONLY) and get comfy because after working on The Midas Touch+ since I was 13, i have A Lot to talk about. (reference: i am now 24.) i have the world's biggest weak spot for jsp/oc, and jumping off that, it's now spiralling into a next-gen related ISSUE. which brings me to the whole story behind this, which has now successfully spawned no less than 9 (and, ultimately, counting) spin-offs in the same universe. some of which feature thinly-veiled appropriation of the names of greek myths. but we'll get to that. also everything is colour coded because i really do be like that. planned oneshots are green, planned novels are purple. golden age (everything here is listed as it happens in-universe, not as they're published otherwise we'd be a bit sparse) the kids aren't alright aurora, james, louis, fred & co's first ever trip to hogwarts and their sorting. The Labours of Lorcan Scamander what was originally supposed to be a challenge piece for the Build-a-Story challenge is now... still being written, because i don't Do deadlines. what is essentially a little glimpse into the life of Lorcan Scamander before he goes into his seventh year (in universe, it's between chapter 1 and chapter 2 of The Midas Touch.) cue some angst, abandonment issues and not so thinly veiled depression. (that said, this *will* be up before chapter 21 of The Midas Touch because of some much needed ~context~) The Midas Touch Quote "Why did you invite Bianchi? Even germs don’t like her.” Richest girl at Hogwarts. Prettiest girl at Hogwarts. Meanest girl at Hogwarts. But apparently my great aunt getting murdered overshadows all of that. Unbelievable. the big daddy (oh there's irony in that) and my baby, who is responsible for the spawning of this entire clown fiesta of a universe. quintessential queen bee with a divination twist - Marina Aurora Bianchi, descendant from a known Seer family, deals with literally everything i throw at her for 50 or so chapters, with the emergence of her powers AND a sudden breakout at Azkaban. easy life? don't know her. angst central, as always. the main character and general JSP/OC are from the original The Midas Touch, which is buried away in the depths of my google drive for no-one to ever see again. the plot is a mix of Seeing Clearly (surprise! another JSP/OC novel) - with which i wanted to explore how disabilities are looked at in the wizarding world - and Glass Bones (in the words of DJ Khaled - ANOTHER ONE!) - which featured the whole Seer angle but.... with a twist. honestly i could talk all day and then some about this but there's a lot to cover here so i'm going to yeehaw onwards. (and the link for the appropriate pinterest boards are here+ (m)) bad guy a one-shot based around Nolan Wood following the events of chapter 43 (if everything goes to plan) of The Midas Touch. title from billie eilish's bad guy. a honeyed grimace comes immediately after the events of The Midas Touch, something to do with tessa that would be #spoilers wastelands the official (novel) sequel to The Midas Touch, with Emma Reynolds as the narrator. i'll be quiet because #spoilers but it's a fair way off but it does center on the Slytherin Girl's seventh year and coping mechanisms, however unhealthy they might be. how the mighty fall less involved with the actual storyline and more of a character exploration into ryan's life post-hogwarts. takes place while the universe is centered in wastelands. running from my shadow a one-shot about fred weasley ii during the events of wastelands. title from mike shinoda's running from my shadow. untitled novel recovery in adulthood & the lasting impact of literally every kind of trauma. the great disappearing act surprise oneshot of the events of something that happens in the untitled novel. sorry, #spoilers. now, bear in mind this is all i have plot-wise right now, but nearly every single character listed gets a story, but most of them will be oneshots. as for the characters? say no more 'main' character list: marina aurora bianchi - narrator of The Midas Touch, which follows her sixth year at Hogwarts. resident rich-girl and queen bee. (leo ascendant, sagittarius sun, libra moon.) james sirius potter - eldest of the Potter siblings, absolute nerd and closet knitter. primary stories are The Midas Touch and the untitled novel. (taurus ascendant, gemini sun, cancer moon.) louis weasley - caught in the middle of aurora and james' bickering. struggling with his identity. (pisces sun/scorpio moon) fred weasley ii - loves a good prank but rarely knows where to draw the line. (aries sun & moon) nolan wood - oliver wood's son who was nearly sorted into slytherin because he'll do anything to win. (capricorn sun/scorpio moon) tessa holloway - aurora's best friend and wannabe healer. (virgo sun/capricorn moon) emma reynolds - aurora's close friend, has problems with her self image but fakes confidence to cover it up. will be narrating wastelands. (cancer sun/aries moon) ryan whitlock - aurora's boyfriend and head boy during the events of The Midas Touch. (capricorn sun/gemini moon) molly weasley ii - 'sort of' dating lysander scamander, herbology genius with a business on the side. (aquarius sun/capricorn moon) lysander scamander - ryan's best friend & a slytherin beater. (taurus sun/pisces moon) lorcan scamander - seventh year gryffindor who occasionally hangs out with james & co. narrator of The Labours of Lorcan Scamander. (taurus sun/pisces moon) scorpius malfoy - one of aurora's chosen ones, but has a bit of a temper. (aries sun/sagittarius moon) lily luna potter - slytherin's star seeker and honorary baby sister to aurora. (libra sun/aquarius moon) albus potter - the middle potter. rarely seen without his nose in a book. (taurus sun/leo moon) vari arumin - the last quarter of aurora's friendship group. less involved with aurora than tessa and emma. I've caught up with The Midas Touch now and I love it - I have so many questions about the different characters, so I'm here with a few questions to hopefully help motivate you with writing What's your favourite thing about writing Aurora's character? Aurora has a background as a Seer - what interests you most about divination? I noticed that you've got star signs for all your characters - is astrology important to any of them? Can you tell me a bit more about the title for the fic? Your hockey AU sounds so fun! What era will it be based in, which characters will it include and what genre will it be?
