crowsb4bros Posted October 22, 2019 Posted October 22, 2019 What weird things have you had to google for your novel? Post them here, along with what you found out!
800 words of heaven Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 lol Last night I looked up different wood colours for a throwaway line about the colour of bookshelves in the Hogwarts Library. I've googled odder things, admittedly, but this was my first NaNo 2019 google
grumpy cat Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 fashion show after-parties. needless to say, i got distracted by looking at pics of beautiful people
Predictable Chaos Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 small mammals of Burkina Faso. My runespoor needs to eat.
magpie Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 I‘ve been googling maps of Hogwarts to figure out what locations are on which floor, which areas could be considered valuable territories, etc. A lot of the maps are inconsistent, which I guess means I’ll have to take some liberties/invent places. Since it’s a reconstructed castle, there could conceivably be new areas.
Guest Noelle Zingarella Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I just googled “tricks of a con man.” Wikipedia has a long and fascinating list of them, if anyone is wondering.
Gryffin_Duck Posted November 6, 2019 Posted November 6, 2019 I haven't had to google much, but I've been spending a lot of time on the Fantasy Name Generator website.
Guest Tanda Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I googled about Greenland and Alaska. I tried to figure out how I should send Ron to the East and I noticed I sent him to the far west...

I was creating a lesson for my students the other day on map skills and had to look up if Japan or Korea were further north. However, for writing, my new character needed a hairstyle. I realized I know nothing about men's hairstyles. He now sports a pompadour (only because I loved the name itself.) Also, Nazi newspapers. He needed something to read.
