crestwood Posted October 23, 2019 Posted October 23, 2019 And we’re back again to attempt NaNo and hopefully not have something blow up right in the middle of the month! As you might have noticed reading the title of my nest, I’ll be working on a brand new story for NaNo and it’s the first of my fics titled after a character, which I’m weirdly excited about. amar amar focuses on the story of Amar Sarin in three parts. He was previously a supporting character in my story ‘steal a few breaths,’ but now he’s front and center. We follow him throughout his childhood, into his adulthood, and experience the trials that follow him here and there. He and his sister find their lives uprooted when their parents are arrested for the attempted robbery of Gringotts Wizarding Bank. Everything from that point on seems to come back to that day, and the consequences of that decision color each section of the story. amar is a character study in every sense of the phrase, putting him under a microscope and refusing to waver. It’s been a delight to plan. Now, amar is only expected to be around 20k words, so there will be other fics involved this month that will hopefully get me to that nice round 50k. Untitled Wizard Tales from Many Lands entry A tall-tale set in Puerto Rico - the unbelievable stories from the life of an orphan with a natural knack for getting things to bend his way. To Lead an Army More chapters of Neville the spy. Things Change I’ve promised to finally get chapter four out of myself soon, so I will do so. flower in its decay All other words will be continued work on flower! We’ll see how this goes. I’ll be back to update and chat
victoria_anne Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Hey there! 1. Did you always know you were going to write about Amar or did he surprise you in the writing of Steal a Few Breaths? 2. Can you tell us a little bit more about Amar? 3. Are you a morning or an evening writer? Good luck next month!
crestwood Posted October 31, 2019 Author Posted October 31, 2019 hello Bianca! 1. Amar was first thought of years and years ago, but back then he was only a future minor character in my story 'Things Change.' But after writing steal a few breaths it became clear to me that he had a lot more to him than I could possibly fit into that story and that he deserved his own. Then, I got this idea of a sort of inspired-by-Dickens fic centered on him and it took off. 2. Amar starts the story as a person who's very shaped by what's going on around him. He's quiet and private, with a thinly hidden rage simmering underneath the surface. When we first met him in steal a few breaths, he seemed basically nothing like that. I think the main word I would use to describe him would be malleable. He takes what life gives him. 3. I am definitely an evening writer! I write all of my best work very late at night and absolutely struggle in the morning to write anything at all. Thank you so much for the questions!
MrsDarcy Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Hi Joey! Your amar fic sounds so intriguing! I love the concept of a character study and his parents having tried to rob Gringotts 1. What draws you to Amar's character? Do you see some of yourself in him? 2. How do you manage to get intimately into your character's head, describe their thoughts etc.? Does it help to write in first person? I always seem to struggle with this (if it's like hard to answer, don't bother ) 3. You know I love your writing, it is so bootiful - and I can't believe your going for the 50k! when you write, do you draft everything out and look back later, or is more of a back and forth process? Tell me your secrets!

I am very sad that I haven't visited your AP in so long, because this one sentence has filled me with a need that I never knew existed. I am very excited about this story, now! A week into NaNo, how is this month going for you? Which stories have you spent the most time with? Which stories do you wish to spend more time with, going forward?
