toomanycurls Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I really really need to finish Lightning Love. I've gotten through one of the big surprises of the story and have a few more to come so it's the really exciting part that I've been looking forward to writing ever since I came up with the story outline years ago.
Predictable Chaos Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 I'm excited that your muse has come back after such a hiatus. What gave you your inspiration back? Can you give us a sneak peak of what is to come for Lily and Lysander?
TreacleTart Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 Hey Rose! I'm here to drop by some encouragement, questions, and totally not procrastinate doing any writing of my own. First, I have a handful of questions for you about your project. 1. What has been the most difficult aspect of writing Lightning Love? 2. Of all the next-gen characters, why did you feel drawn to Lysander and Lily? 3. Has anything in your own life inspired the way you develop the relationship between Lysander and Lily? And a bit of encouragement Here Best of luck to you this writing season! I look forward to reading your story soon!

Mostly it's been a time and motivation issue rather than a muse issue. I mean, I have the rest of the story planned with a list of what should happen in each chapter. I don't have all the details planned out just ideas like "Lily has lunch with Albus to discuss relationship woes." I suppose not having the inspiration to decide exactly what happens in that scene is a muse issue. I honestly think I just need to marinate with ideas for a while before writing them. I think the best sneak peak I have is that Lily and Lysander do come together in the story. It takes a lot longer than people want and happens in some difficult circumstances but they get there. 18 hours ago, TreacleTart said: Hey Rose! I look forward to reading your story soon! Thank you for coming by and for the lovely review 1. Next Gen is very hard for me as I have to create all of the characters and context for what's going on. When I write stories that are tightly coupled with the books there are so many points where I can lean on the story from HP to think of my next plot idea. Working with a large cast is a challenge at times. I know it's my choice to have such a large cast with a lot of threads active at once but it also gives me a lot of juggle. 2. That is a good question. Some of it is me wanting to stay focused on the next gen universe that I've already written without only writing about the characters from True Romance. The Potter kids have quite the interesting mix of being raised in the spotlight but also by incredibly humble people. Lysander is someone I just had to write about because having such an interesting mom like Luna would make anyone worth writing about. 3. I don't have a direct inspiration for Lily/Lysander's relationship. For me, the idea that relationships are so fragile that they could entirely fail to launch or end up being a lifelong romance is what drove this story. Lily is almost a study on indecision.

But it's also quite rewarding! I am a little ashamed to admit that I haven't read Lightning Love yet, but I think I'm going to wait for it be marked "complete" before I do, now that I know it's such a slow burn As one week of NaNo has passed, how are you faring with your project? What have your triumphs been? And what tribulations have you had? Keep pushing through, Rose! You got this.
