REQUIEM

requiem.jpg.fcf9831d6beb22d33be4a88c7f9c98e4.jpg

cause when the villains fall, the kingdoms never weep

no one lights a candle to remember

The Shadow Queen is dead. While the rest of the country celebrates the end of her tyrannical reign, her younger sister Clio can think only of revenge. Convinced that there must be more the story, she sets out into the unfamiliar world of magic and chaos her sister always tried to protect her from, determined to find the person responsible for her sister's death and show them just how terrifying a witch can be.

Hello, all! This year, I am determined to actually participate in NaNo even if it kills me (which it probably will) and figured now was as good a time as ever to dip my toes back into the forums! I will be focusing on a fantasy novel that I have barely started planning and really have no direction or plot for (surprise, surprise).

CHARACTERS

Clio (Logan Browning)- Younger sister to Deja (The Shadow Queen) who has spent her whole life in a tiny village where no one knows her biggest secrets: Deja is her sister and she is a witch like her. Can control plant life

Aralyn (Lisa Amblavanar)- Bounty hunter who joins Clio on her journey with an ulterior motive

Deja (Freema Agyeman)- Clio's older sister, known as The Shadow Queen. Presumed to have gone insane with power and killed for it. Can control natural light and became overwhelmed with shadow magic

Happy NaNo everyone!

Also I will finish Mutually Beneficial or else Kayla will come for me in my sleep

This looks so good! I have so many questions, but I imagine some of the things I want to know are spoilers, like the ulterior motive and what really happened to Deja.

I love the forms of magic the sisters have! Will we be encountering any other forms?

Will it be gay?

Will you post it in the archives?

(Yes Freema Agyeman is perfect queen material)

Sam!!

Yes! In this universe, the witches's powers come from the world around them and every witch has a different kind of skill.

Obviously ?

Maybe eventually, but for right now, I'm keeping it just for me

It's been actual years since I've been able to just turn off that nagging little voice in my head and just write without caring how it sounds or if every word is in the right place. And honestly, I think it may just be working out in my favor ?

Spoiler

After much longer than it should’ve been, she finally stopped, leaning against a tree. She blinked a few times as her surroundings came into focus. Leaves crunched under her feet as she took a shaky step forward. Nothing looked familiar, but the only sounds she could hear were the sounds of the forest that she’d learned to love. Without thinking it through, she sank down on the ground, her back against the tree. And despite the words that were echoing through her head, she buried her hands under the leaves, pressing them against the hard ground.

The browning, dying leaves around her hands slowly started to turn back to red, then yellow, and then slowly to green as grass and flowers started pushing their way through and twisting up her arms. Small branches sprung up where she rested her head back on the tree. Leaves brushed against her cheeks as vines started moving their way down to her.

As the plants started taking over, she felt her breathing even out. The jumbled thoughts in her mind slowly started to even themselves out, even if fear kept gnawing its way to the front of her brain. Once the flowers reached her shoulders, she finally pulled back on the power that had been flowing down her arms. She let out a huge breath, feeling her heartbeat starting to slow down.

I am just so excited for this OF fantasy! This is a question I've been asking others in their nests, since I'm so clueless about world building: what are your inspirations and sources for your fantasy world? The sister relationship has Snow Queen vibes so far, so I'm very interested if this is one of the inspirations!

Also, one week in, how goes this festive month of NaNo?
