I saw that book recs for Madeleine was on your list, so I wanted to drop off a few (and I'm linking to amazon, so links are rated M just in case): The Baby Lit collection is an adorable set of classics redone as various children's primers (colors, counting, weather, etc). There are a lot of them and the do come separately. My favorites are Pride and Prejudice, Don Quixote, and Moby Dick. Luna by Antonio Rubio is really fun to read and has whimsical illustrations. Press Here by Herve Tullet is a follow-the-directions book that my kids played with until it fell apart when they were younger. And, because sometimes it's fun to read stories that have interest for adults as well as children: Outside Over There by Maurice Sendak is one of my favorites. If you aren't familiar, it's about a girl who has to rescue her sister from goblins. If this sounds like the plot to Labyrinth, you're not far off, because the movie was at least partially inspired by this book. The Serpent Slayer and Other Stories of Strong Women is an outstanding collection of tales from around the world about women slaying dragons and overcoming obstacles. And Trina Schart Hymen's illustrations are wonderful. Baba Yaga and Vasilisa the Brave by Mariana Meyer is a Russian folktale that is similar to Cinderella, except that Vasilisa has to go into the forest and face down the terrifying Baba Yaga instead of go to the ball. Kinuko Craft's illustrations are so perfect that I'm pretty sure Baba Yaga modeled for her portrait in the book. Craft has done an number of fairy tales and Greek myths, and all of them are owners in my opinion. I hope you enjoy! Noelle

I have a load of the Little People, Big Dreams books for Aria and they're great. Loads of them are about people who've made a big difference, such as Emmeline Pankhurst, Rosa Parks, Marie Curie and the like. We've got quite a collection now! Happy holidays xx

grumpy cat Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 i was a weird kid (and i'm a weirder adult) so my dad read me wir kinder vom bahnhof zoo (zoo station: the story of christiane f.). i probably wouldn't actually rec it for real haha but i loved loved loved horrible histories by terry deary and i'd rec them to any kid and/or adult and here's a fic rec that features plant(s)! guiana chestnut by @facingthenorthwind. if you haven't read good omens yet, you should because it's one of my all time favourite fantasy books aaaand since you love star wars i think you would love the expanse book series by james s.a.corey. ofc, it's different than star wars but it does feature a ragtag group on a stolen starship and it's fun! there's even a tv series but i haven't watched it yet. idk if you've read dune by frank herbert? you should if you haven't, it's a classic. one of my faves.
