grumpy cat Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 title: all was true author: @800 words of heaven link to story: here+ warnings [if applicable]: violence reason for nomination: i don't think i've read a story featuring petunia prominently until this one and i was honestly blown away. it's difficult to explain why the story is so impactful without spoiling it too much, but i think that 800 has managed to perfectly weave petunia's story into the hp canon universe. you'll feel torn after reading it, feeling both sorry and angry at petunia. we see a quite shocking side of petunia that wouldn't occur to you when reading the hp books, but now, i'm not sure i'm able to think of her in a different way than how she's written in this story. everything in her life culminates up to this point that we read about and it's awful and difficult and just...hard. and she struggles a lot. but still, we can't only empathise with her without feeling the (justified, i think) anger at her at the same time. and i think it really shows how good of a writer 800 is, because she makes you feel all sorts of things in this one shot (which is just areound 1.5k but tells so so much).
Darling_take_off_the_mask Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Title: Todentanz Author: @Noelle Zingarella Link to Story: Here (M) Warnings [if applicable]: Consent Issues (Mild/Moderate), Derogatory Language, Domestic Abuse, Hate Speech, Sexual Content, Substance Abuse, Violence Reason for Nomination: This is a very thoughtful and inspired depiction of the earliest stages of what is arguably one of the ickiest relationships in canon, Eileen and Tobias Snape. It is a respectful treatment and understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse, and the characterizations are compelling. It is chilling but not gratuitous. Noelle also gives some thought to how Eileen's status as a witch plays into things.
