batsam Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Have you come across any stories you deem worthy of an Order of Merlin for Physiology and Healing? Leave recommendations for stories by other authors here, with as brief or detailed of a squee as you like before you have to rush off and save more patients. Keep in mind this event is in preparation for the FROGs, so let’s try to focus on eligible stories, updated since 1/1/19.
Guest Noelle Zingarella Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Irrational+ by @RonsGirlFriday is the sweetest, most adorkable love story--I'm hooked and eagerly awaiting more! Audrey is so darling and I want to give her a big hug; and Percy is exactly as he should be.
mydearfoxy Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 Saboteurs by @Aphoride is the most brilliant premise ever, I'm not even kidding. Percy as a double agent? Complicating the narratives of Cho and Marietta? Percy/Oliver? Laura's amazing writing? Can't recommend this enough! blood in the water by @belgian quaffle is the James II/OC crime thriller I didn't know I'd been waiting for my whole life. Also, the setting is captured so well, I felt like I was in a movie. It's so compelling ever from the first line! I'm loving this event and finding so many great fics. How will I ever decide what to nominate??
magemadi Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 If you haven't read stranger things by @blackballet yet then you're really missing out! Marauders-era with a half-inferius protagonist just trying to survive and graduate Hogwarts with a heavy dose of mystery and action? The characterizations of everyone is SO GOOD, so honestly check this novel out! It just got updated yesterday even
abhorsen. Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I know that I'm a Plague MD, but @potionspartner's reviews of The Most Marvellous Downfall of Mr. Bartemius Crouch (Sr.) by @Crimson Quill and @nott theodore were just so absolutely delightful that I had to stop tallying and read the story, and it's amazing.
just.a.willow.tree Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 I am completely in love with @Lost_Robin's Iris albicans, which features phenomenal Ravenclaw Tower headcanons, amazing Ravenclaw characters, and the sweetest and cutest protagonist! I also just began this story, but already Periphery by @firewhiskey is dangerously addictive.
mydearfoxy Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Isabella by @TreacleTart is so captivating and original - and she just posted a new chapter! Also, Ridicule Us by @RonsGirlFriday - winner of the Prefects' Celebration Challenge! - is so touching and thoughtful, I loved it.
Darling_take_off_the_mask Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 The Thestrals Go to London by @Oregonian is a brilliant poem, so creative and cheeky! You will not regret taking a look at this. I thought I already knew which poem I wanted to nominate for FROGs but now I confess myself to be utterly torn, because I would never have imagined something like this.
Darling_take_off_the_mask Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Goodbye, Jus by @Felpata_Lupin is a bittersweet meditation on friendship and romance and how one can really complicate the other, maybe even destroy it. It was last updated in 2018, which is a damn shame because it means the fic itself is not FROGs eligible, BUT it has been made into a podfic by @facingthenorthwind, who does a gorgeous job as always.
abhorsen. Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 everyone should read @TidalDragon's in brightest shades of ochre immediately please it is perfect and amazing at depicting post-sww traumatized hermione and traumatized draco, which I love
Guest Tanda Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Seconded to @MuggleMaybe's recommendation of @TreacleTart's Isabella and @nott theodore's As We Come Ashore (m) is very impressive. If I am allowed to recommend the reviewed stories before CMDC review events, I would like to share @LadyMarauder's adventurous The Roar (all), with the magical creature, dragon and @MadiMalfoy's lovely epistolary work, Friendly Correspondence (all), @potionspartner's Sirius Orion Black : A Psychological Study (m) this is one and only, I've never encountered such an unique story as Barbara's perspective Sirius Black.
TidalDragon Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 @abhorsen. Thank you! You are too nice to me! Also here to second @belgian quaffle's blood in the water.
TreacleTart Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Thank you @MuggleMaybe and @Tanda Some of my recommendations: Inheritance (M) by @Bunbury is so clever and unique. Phaedra, the mc is excellent and her adventures thus far are a beautiful mix of scary, intriguing, humorous and so much more. An absolute must read The Thing With Feathers (M) by @abhorsen. is such a cute and humorous story about Tristan and Isolda (read: not Euphemia and Fleamont) Potter and how they met. After Destiny (M) by @CambAngst I will never not recommend this story. This is absolutely one of the best portrayals of post war healing I've ever read. It's heartbreaking, humorous, authentic, and caring to each of the many characters who appear in it. I Am The Moon, Maybe (A) by @Tanda This drabble is such a sweet story of Ron and Harry's friendship told through Ron's voice. The description in it is really lovely. A Place Not Far From Here ((M) by @Chemical_Pixie One of the best OC driven novels I've ever read. Full of mystery, intrigue, and action. All The Waves Resounded (M) by @BookDinosaur If you don't ship Tedromeda, this story will change your mind. One of my favorite falling in love stories ever. Also, adding my voice to the support of In Brightest Shades of Ochre by @TidalDragon It's a brutal, angsty portrayal of PTSD
