just.a.willow.tree Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Title: With a little help Author: @VaguelyCreativeName Link to Story: here! Warnings [if applicable]: N/A Reason for Nomination: This is SUCH a sweet "What if?" AU idea, in which the Dursleys are found to be too abusive and so Baby Harry is taken to live with an aunt, instead! And all of it is done in the most natural way, because it makes complete sense that McGonagall cares enough for the son of Lily and James that she'll ensure his safety and happiness! Julia has created a completely unique, wonderful OC -- we often don't get main characters in the form of fifty-something-year-old women, a gap that definitely needs some filling in -- and Rosemary is just completely wonderful. This story deserves so much love! I love it so much!
grumpy cat Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 title: peonies on tuesday author: @RonsGirlFriday link to story: here+ warnings [if applicable]: n/a reason for nomination: this oneshot, in around 700 words and a creative format, packs such a huge emotional punch that it will make you cry. it made my poor lil' heart cry. the sadness seeps through the screen and envelops you in a very real way. the story deals with dementia and death but in such a way that it's never explicit, everything is contextual, and it's told from a perspective of a man - ben, who is also kinda adorable and actually, the whole story is, you know? it's strange, how melanie manages to seamlessly interweave this friendship (almost romance) in an adorable way with...well, the absolute sadness. there's flowers at the start of the story, and there's flowers at the end and they kinda kill you. in a good way. feels™
