Welcome to the Swamp Hut! 

The Swamp Hut is Rumpelstiltskin's home for all her badly-behaved, endless WIPs (because where else is a Swamp Hag meant to keep her babies)!  Rumpel's major goal is to hit around 25,000 words. She'd shoot for 50,000, but she knows herself too well to know that she's probably going to run into High Avoidance level around halfway through.  Below you can find the Hag's naughty babies and learn allll about them. Because Rumpelstiltskin has zero self-control, there will also be new babies being born during this time. Stay-tuned for ickle octo-goat babies.

We are hosts to an entire horde of plaguing ailments like jealousy and greed and we lack the physical and emotional capabilities to cope with such diseases. That is how the War started. That is how the world ended. That is why there is a grand nothingness on the Outside, beyond the walls of the Sovereignty.

My name is Cyril Bernard and I play a highly important role in maintaining the peace and overall well-being of our wonderfully prospering society (despite what that Mark Van said because what does that peacebreaker know anyway).

 

Oh, Cyril and Mark. What will we do with you? We're currently batting in at six [6] chapters and one [1] Appendix chapter, cashing in for a total of 21,990 words. We've been getting glimpses into just exactly how the Sovereignty works, the Underground, and what happened to Cyril and Mark. Chapter Six paved the way as a huge transitional chapter, Rumpel is anxious to spend some energy and time focusing on moving the storyline along with this one. 

According to the outline, chapters 7 and 8 should do several things, but the most important of those things should include: establishing Cyril's character dynamics, revealing how the nature of Mark and Cyril's relationship will change, the game plan in moving forward, and be a lead into more about the Children's District. Chapter 9 should start truly taking us places and be winding us up to our second minor conflict. 

 

The Mildly Perilous and Mostly Tragicomic Misadventures of Sir Roderick Gryffindor and 'Sir' Ivan Harris - [goal - 2,000 words | ~one chapter] - harry potter fanfic | founders era

Some young ladies dream of being the wife of a Nobleman, Ivanna Harris dreams of being the Nobleman that the young ladies are yearning to marry. While disguising herself as her brother works while they are children, Ivanna's becoming too feminine to be a believable boy. One day, a man named Roderick Gryffindor comes to their small village, and Ivanna leaps at the opportunity for adventure.

This is an old one that hasn't been touched in a while, but has that twisted mix of low-brow/high-brow, dark/light humor that Rumpel's has been volleying with lately. This one is a bit of a crack!fic that leans on more serious aspects of sexuality and identity exploration. Monty Python-esque? Check. Adventure? Check! Heroes? Check! Ye Ole Swamp Hag doesn't need this one to be a major focal point for (Swamp) Camp but she desperately wants to play around with it some more, so here goes nothing. 

It has been so long since Rumpel has even gandered at the outline that she's wholly unsure what to expect in the next chapter. Most assuredly, it will have something to do with the side-quest and the Crotchety One. Max, of course, will be your narrator -- but you already knew that.

 

Half-Things - [goal- 6,000 words | ~two chapters ]

 Since none of the rules really, truly apply to you, then fate shouldn't care to have you in it's grasp either. In fact, you'd be pretty sure exactly where you could tell fate to go. D'hrishi learns to find a place in the world as just a half-thing, like Taril'elle did before him.

This one is relatively new. We've got celestial beings, daemons, humans, and (of course) "half-things" in-between. Only, the world isn't always accepting of the in-between, which can make life a touch difficult at times. War, oppression, prejudice, and frustrating characters meets falling in love, self-discovery, overcoming oppression, and friendship. 

Since chapter one was obviously the introductory chapter, chapters two and three are setting up worldbuilding, characterization, and the like while establishing just what happens when Taril is exiled from the Celestial Kingdom and is pseudo-adopted by an ever-curious Daemon Lord who thinks she's the neatest thing since the invention of the sword. 

 

 

Makin' New Babies

Rumpel has got two babies brewing in the cauldron. One is currently in its outlining stage and one is still a conglomeration of ideas swirling around in there but we're going to let those bubble and brew together for a while. We're aiming at tossing a grand total of 10,000 words to dump into the pot to create the very start of these kiddos.  

 

So, that leaves us with roughly 300 words to play with. Since some chapters are shorter and some are longer, we thought we'd leave a healthy cushion of words in case we need them. Since I also have a bunch more WIPs I could be working on, I'm giving myself the freedom to substitute one of those for any of these in the nest.

 

The Swamp Hag is In

I'm going to be sweeping around other people's nests to see what I can do to cheer on and motivate! \O/ I'm greatly looking forward to the rat races and menagerie to be had while we all pump out all the words we can.

You had me at low-brow/high-brow! I'm excited to read about Sir Roderick and Sir Ivan, and I'm eager to read more Cyril and Mark! I'm happy you're updating that one -- I became so engrossed! We, Lawbreaking Citizens has a fantastic premise.

Are you most excited about one of of these projects in particular? What drew you to pick up the older ones again?

I'm most excited about WLC because I had such a difficult time forcing myself through the transitional chapter that now I'm stoked to be working on more fun bits. 

I decided to snag the old one of only out of an attempt to make myself laugh.

Okay, so I started prepping chapter outlined (finished 3). Jumped the gun and ended up writing a significant portion of chapter two of Half-Things so I'll be working on chapters 3&4 during Camp instead. 

Also, I made picspams for chapter 7 of WLC, Chapter 1 of [Unnamed James/Regulus fic], and chapter 3 of Half-Things to help inspire me to write. O7

I was procrastinating for a while with a trasitional chapter, but now that that's out of the way there's no excuses left for me not WLC the heck out.

Unwisely being written for the Modern AU Challenge, this is a James Potter x Regulus Black (college meets coffee shop au).

I've got the story outline and the first two chapter outlines written, finally have a title, and am ready for mayhem. I don't have a summary written, but the story goes a little something like this:

Sad!James meets Sad!Regulus -- chaos ensues. 

Okay, yeah, so James is in a bit of a rut, with no idea what he wants to be doing with his life and no direction in particular to be heading. He's still dealing with the aftermath of having his heart broken, even after a year later, and he's watching his friends move forward with their lives. While he's trying to figure out what he's even doing, a scandal causes a private Uni nearby to close, dropping Regulus Black into his life. James comes up with the idea to try to reignite some sort of friendship between the two Black siblings (Peter did tell him to find a hobby), Lily wants to be friends, Peter is not lacking for dates, Sirius is a force of pure chaos, Remus is getting tired of all this shit, Marlene is a saint, Regulus doesn't want to be in the middle of any of this. 

As I said. Chaos. James has to figure out who he is and what he's doing without the universe blowing up in his face. So that'll be fun.

You are so good a world building; I was wondering if you'd mind sharing a few tips, and telling us a little about how you go about the process of growing a world and a story.

Also, how's your NaNo going so far?
