mydearfoxy Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 Blackout Poetry Roundup: Philosopher's Stone Welcome to our first blackout poetry activity! What is blackout poetry? Blackout poetry is creating a poem from a page preexisting text, by connecting words on the page in a new way. One the words are chosen, the extraneous words are covered up. Here are some examples: They can be artistic or straightforward. They can use color or not. They might connect to the source text or have no relation to it at all. THE CHALLENGE: Create a blackout poem using one of the below pages from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. How To: Everyone is eligible to participate Any photo editor should work for creating your poem. For these purposes, I recommend pixlr. It's free and requires no download. Please use a link to an offsite host like imgur, imgbox, or nickpic when you post your poem. Who wins will be determined by a poll at the end of the two weeks. You may NOT add additional words or letters to the page You MAY use the words out of order, though it is recommended to indicate reading order in this case. You MAY enter one poem for each of the four pages You may NOT enter more than one poem for a single page Within these rules, you have complete creative freedom in completing your poem! If you're not sure where to start, check out this article from Medium. Deadline: April 27, 11:59pm PST Rewards: The winning poem(s) will be featured on HPFT's social media pages. No house cup points; this is just for fun. PAGE OPTIONS - open spoiler tag Spoiler (I know this image quality is not the best. For all but the chapter 1 page, you may use a different photograph as long as it is of the proper page) from chapter 1: chapter 9, page 144: chapter 13, page 225: chapter 17, page 294: Questions and completed poems can be posted here. Guest Noelle Zingarella Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 @MuggleMaybe I love this! Is it okay to print the pages and create some poem art by hand, or does this need to be totally digital?
