I started writing in 2012, and have fics from 2014 on posted on my AO3. I think my first fic was for the Hunger Games, but what really got me writing was Avengers 2012 (but I know we're not supposed to talk about that much so I'll just move on). My writing style is pretty stream of consciousness, and I care a lot more about the flow than grammar rules. I try to have a lot of voice in my works, in part because I enjoy reading fics that are like that. An issue I have is that I can get an idea, plot the entire thing out, and then either never write it at all, or I'll start and then never finish. I have tons of ideas for HP fics, mostly for the Marauders era, but there are two that I really wanna work on. Hopefully telling yall about them will motivate me to finish them lol. One is going to be a Lily/James lighthouse fic that I'm writing for a friend. In it, Lily is a lighthouse keeper, and James and the other boys are sailors who end up shipwrecked on the shore near her lighthouse. James gets injured and then sick, and while taking care of him, Lily and James become friends. It's going to be set in 1908 with no magic, so definitely AU haha. I'm not sure of the rating yet, but I've only got about one chapter written so far. Here's a snippet from it: Quote “Will the light keeper be able to help, Miss…?” Lieutenant Black asks. She turns to him, catching his gaze. For all that he sounds calm, there’s a strain there, darkening in his eyes and tightening the corners of his mouth. He looks—exhausted and desperate, and obviously worse-off for his time in the lifeboat. If she knew him better, she might even say he looks scared, his fingers a little too tense on his friend’s wrist. “Evans,” she says with confidence, used to taking charge in situations like these. “Lily Evans. And seeing as I’m the light keeper, I believe so, yes.” The other fic is a James/Sirius/Lily/Remus fic which is going to focus on how they all get together. I decided to start with the ships that are opposite from canon (or "canon" in wolfstar's case), James/Sirius and Lily/Remus, and then work from there to get them all into a polyamorous relationship. I have 2 and half chapters written so far and it's definitely gonna be rated M and have angst. I'm hoping that this can be the start of a series because I want to write the four of them with babies lol, so this is gonna be the set up for fluffier endeavors. Here's a snippet: Quote The thing is—Lily doesn’t watch the four boys for no reason. She’s friends, after all, with Remus Lupin. The other three require the constant awareness of everyone around them, lest some poor innocent get sucked into one of their ridiculous pranks. Lily is sitting across the room from them in Potions class, in between Severus and Mary. And the “them”, in this case, is only Remus—who’s hands are covered in bandages—and James—who’s diligently doing the work Remus can’t. Sirius is probably skipping class, and she thinks Peter might be ill. Either way, they’re not around. She doubts the two who are will be doing anything stupid this period, but even if they did, she would be safe from it. But she’s still looking. I'm still trying to figure out how posting fics on here works but I think I'm starting to get it lol. If anyone has any questions, I'm def down to talk. Thanks for reading!

Sometimes the only thing that gets me to finish a fic is having a deadline for a story challenge. I mostly do one-shots or shooort stories though, cause I know I'll never finish anything longer. Finishing a short story is also frequently an impossibility. omg lighthouse au I love it OMG I'm not only Super Here For polyamory, I'm Very Here For James/Sirius, and we have very little of them here (hpft is all about jily and wolfstar, I'm lonely). Plus fluff???? omggggggg please bless us!

And you are SO valid wrt short stories... writing is just too hard lol, anything of any length is impossible. And ty, I'm so glad you like my ideas!! I'd LOVE to talk about James/Sirius too!!! I love all the combos but I don't get to talk about these two together much :^/ and yessss fluff I need it in my life!! There's a lot of good smut for the polyam ship but I want family. fluff. I neeeeed it. @grumpy cat hahaha I'm glad we're all together with this!! also I love those gifs!! also, while I'm here, update on the ot4 fic: Sirius is having a big ole demisexual freak out and I'm struggling with it terribly but also Quote He’s never really thought about dating James, or anyone really. It’s never sounded very appealing. But now, with his future cracked open wide in front of him and all these questions swirling in his mind, he considers it.

And I thought I understood what was up with James, but I don't! I just wanna skip to the easier parts but I know if I write out of order it's not going to go well at all @sinnersandsapphics I wanted to say thank you so much for your comment, it made me smile all day long lol. I thought I would let you know the fluffy thing I mentioned was in the ot4 verse and it just got validated. No pressure to read it of course but I know (and seriously appreciate so much) that you were looking forward to something from this world I'm making!!

After I saw your comment, I went back and looked at the first chapter and I'm glad I did! It makes me really happy you're excited for it Yessss I try to save it in those cases -- but maybe we could post them to our WJs? That would be fun to see. Speaking of, I saw you have one!! I haven't had time to read it yet but I'm excited to see what you wrote!
dottie-wan-kenobi Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 Speaking of dialogue that suddenly has no place to go, I started writing a little angsty thing with James/Sirius and then this decidedly-not-angsty exchange happened: Quote “No shit, Sherlot,” Sirius replies. “But—” James interrupts, “Isn’t it Sharlock?” Tension still tightens his shoulders, has his foot tapping restlessly, but something in him slows as he tries to recall the Muggle phrase Lily says all the time. “I’m pretty sure it’s Sherlot,” Sirius says, stressing the ‘t’. Someday I'll find a fic for this. Someday
dottie-wan-kenobi Posted November 10, 2020 Author Posted November 10, 2020 -Shows up months later with Starbucks- Sup I have finally put the first chapter of my lighthouse Jily fic in the queue! Plus a ghost fic because I gotta be me, and angsty ghost fics are my jam. More might be coming over soon too but I don't want to fill it up with just my stuff so idk I might space those out. I'm also about to start posting a Remus/Sirius chatfic because it's over on AO3 but I want it here too! Even tho it is posted anonymously on AO3 because I'm shy Aaaand NaNo update: as of right now, I have 15,252/50,000 written! A little behind but it shouldn't be too hard to catch up (I hope lol).
