Since this is the first time I've really wanted to write in I don't even know how long, I have caved in to my muse and let the NaNo spirit pull me in with the project of finishing all my old shit. I'm not going by word count. My goal is to finish my WIPs. Beyond Repair: 14 chapter remaining The Maidens and the Tower: 4 chapters remaining Elaborate Lives: 6 chapters remaining Invisible Horses rewrite: 1 chapter remaining (This probably sounds crazy but honestly my chapters are often under 2000 words so it isn't so bad.) Beyond Repair | banner by Asphodelic @TDA You already know about this probably HP fanfic. Lily and Petunia and their very dysfunctional sisterhood. Etc. etc. The chapters of this are quite short usually. I'm hoping to knock this out in the first two weeks of November. Elaborate Lives | banner by TenthWeasley @TDA HP fanfic. Currently hidden on my AP. This is a tragic story of Helena Ravenclaw based on the opera/musical Aida. This has a more flowery style and longer chapters. I expect at least two days per chapter for this one. The Maidens and the Tower | banner by just.a.willow.tree Original fiction. A f/f retelling of Maid Maleen set on the American Prairie. Middle level of difficulty, writing wise. Somewhat episodic in nature, with each chapter focusing on one season. Invisible Horses | I have no banner for this fic so if you wanna make me one that'd be fab lol HP fanfic. Currently hidden on my AP. I originally imagined this as a multi-chapter story and then realized it's much better suited as a oneshot. Luna/Colin. Yes. You did read that correctly. I'm really excited to write this and actually I don't know why I've put it off for so long. So, there you have it. Will I regret committing to this? Yes. 100% yes. BUT, if I manage it, I will feel SO GREAT and can start working on new ideas without unfinished work hanging over me. Which sounds like a dream.

What about a specific mood that would help someone making a banner for you? 2) Luna/Colin sounds like a really interesting pairing that I don't think I've seen before. How do you see their dynamic and what makes them suited for each other? 3) What made you choose Aida specifically for Elaborate Lives? 4) Maid Maleen isn’t a fairy tale that I’ve commonly seen (or, actually, heard of before). What attracted you to it and why the American Prairie as a setting? 5) What do you plan to work on once these fics are finished?

Are you also doing a "finish my shit" month? I will stop by your nest asap! 1) I'm good with the movie faceclaims for Luna and Colin I think. The story is sweet and innocent in tone but also quite sad. As implied by the name, it involves thestrals. 2) I like them together because they're both not quite like their peers, and they have these specific interests and obsessions that other people don't get. And also, Colin is really enamored with the magical world in a special way, I think, so I can easily see him going along with Luna's less-than-proven ideas about magical creatures and embracing that part of her. And Luna is someone who sees and appreciates people for who/what they are, so I think she would enjoy Colin's eccentricity but also not care about it because she sees the courage and the good heart underneath. 3) Well, the short answer is that I really really love the Broadway musical of Aida. It's one of my all time favorites. I could justify Elaborate Lives by observing that Aida includes a tragic death that kind of mirrors Helena's, and both stories have complicated parent/child relationships as well. But I'm not really sure how they got connected in my head except that it just fits somehow. 4) I originally started The Maidens and the Tower for a fairy tale challenge, so I flipped through my copy of Grimm's fairy tales looking for something a little off the beaten path, and Maid Maleen caught my attention because it's one of the longest stories that isn't well known. It's also surprisingly feminist for a fairytale. I mean, it's not literally feminist, but compared to most fairytales out of western Europe it's pretty solid. The setting happened because I was stuck on the story, so my friend told me to set it in the midwest in the 1960s and i was like..... what about 1860s? I really loved the Little House books when I was a smol child so that kind of setting is close to my heart. 5) I don't know! It's wonderful! I do have various ideas for fic, including a Hufflepuff-centric fic and one focused on Draco Malfoy, but I might also decide to focus on a different fic project or an OF project. So that's nice!
