dottie-wan-kenobi Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Hello hello! I... feel a little awkward just jumping in but whatever, I'm gonna do it my wishlist: reviews! I have more fics up on AO3, but I'd love to hear thoughts on anything I have up on either site! banners/graphics or podfics would be so cool memes that make you laugh every time you see them headcanons about the Marauders era (especially around Lily Evans, and maybe her becoming an Animagus ) I would also love ace/bi or otherwise LGBT+ headcanons for anyone! I think we could all use some cheering up, so a few other possible gifts are: tell me about your favorite character! why are they your favorite, what do you love most about them? doesn't have to be HP! broaden my horizons lol tell me a song that reminds you of a character from HP (and why, if you'd like ) take a prompt from the HPWriterBot in the discord server, and tell me what fic you would write with that prompt tell me your favorite literature/poem quote and why you love it tell me what your favorite kind of holiday dessert is
grumpy cat Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 i've made my marauders headcanon known in you're ripped at every edge but you're a masterpiece but i strongly hc sirius as being in love with both lily and james, maybe not at the same time, maybe yes - i'm not entirely sure but it's all very angsty and doomed and sad and the way i like it. and lily definitely not being perfect as she's often portrayed in fic but actually kinda broken (there's a pattern in these headcanons, yes ) one of my favourite lit quotes is this by franz kafka (because he just ,,,,,gets me): Quote the meaning of life is that it stops as does charles bukowski (bc of course he does ...i'm predictable): Quote those who escape hell however never talk about it and nothing much bothers them after that. i've recently also been heavily obsessed with the poetry collection letters from medea by salma deera, and these quotes in particular are ones i really really loved: Quote i’m colder than london in january– i will love anybody who is over 5 degrees celcius. even you, who lives like a purple stain on my inner leg. look, i am a mess. not a quirky woody allen mess. but a mess. chaos. Quote ‘my father loved my brother more than he loved me. my father loved using his fists more than he loved using his mouth. here is another fact— my brother is now dead, and my father has no hands.’ the man listens carefully. he nods. he understands what she is really saying. Quote for example, i think your heart left a trail of bread crumbs laced with methamphetamine. i think i’ve become an addict, chasing you through a city that doesn’t care anymore. i think maybe this is wrong. i think i know this is wrong. i used to love the sky. we used to love the stars. Quote love is just a synonym for absinthe. absinthe is a synonym for ‘i don’t know what i’m doing anymore.’ i know they're not particularly happy and feel good but they're very me annnd my favourite holiday dessert are the +nürnberger lebkuchen and uhhh i made a banner for 'to go with grace' because lbr i love lily evans (def no pressure to use it!)

I love angsty Sirius headcanons so much, and I love Sirius/Lily, and yessss I love Lily being not as put together as she seems. I of course think of her relationships with Petunia and Snape, but applying it to Lily/Sirius is :chef's kiss: (haha it's alright I love this pattern!) These quotes I love them so much, thank you! They really resonated with me, and now I really wanna go check all of them out! Especially Salma Deera's . And maybe they're not happy, but they're very profound and deep, and I love that. Sometimes for me, happy doesn't hit as hard as the depressed stuff does haha Oh those look so yummy! I've never heard of them before but now I'm very tempted to try and make some Are you kidding of course I'm gonna use it!! That's so beautiful, thank you so much

That's so beautiful, thank you so much ah yes - lily and her family life are ....definitely not greatTM (i'm basing this entirely off the fact that i feel like petunia as a person didn't just ...become like that in a vacuum. like, she was really really really awful and abusive and there had to be something *very wrong* for how much her abuse transferred over to harry) i'm so glad you like the banner the lebkuchen are a traditional german cookie-type-thingie (i think...german monks first made them? sometime in the middleish ages?? idk at this point hah) and this recipe turned out to be really damn close to the ones you can buy at german christmas markets
inmyownlittlecorner Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Hi Dottie! I left you a little review on bind and bound+
Felpata_Lupin Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Dottie, my darling! I come bearing a little review for you! Also, a little list of my queer headcanons for the Marauders, because why not Peter is the gayest you can get Remus is bi, and obviously very conflicted about it... (because conflicted is Remus' quintessence... ) Sirius is... a panromantic asexual who still enjoys sex? Is that a thing? I've been only recently thinking about it this way, but it feels fitting? Yes, I'm probably crazy, I'm sorry... James is... too focused on Lily to question his identity I don't have strong opinions on Lily, but I think she might be bi, too (I can totally see Lily/Marlene happen at some point ) Marlene... just cares about the attention Mary Macdonald is 100% lesbian Dorcas is straight, but she's one hell of an ally!
dottie-wan-kenobi Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 @pirate grumpy cat that's a good point!! I've never really thought too in depth about that but now I'm really intrigued by what their situation must've been like @la_topolina thank you so much!! @Felpata_Blizzard thank you so much for the review! and I love these headcanons!! Sirius as a panromantic ace who enjoys sex is definitely not crazy, and I love it so much. I'm getting all in my feels about it, actually haha
GotNoJamsss Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Hey There! I've been keeping an eye on your wishlist and made a thing that I hope you'll like. dottie-wan-kenobi Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 @RogueMidwinter oh my gosh!!!! I love it so much!! I can't stop looking at it, it's so pretty thank you so much!
ineffable_season Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 On 12/1/2020 at 3:50 AM, dottie-wan-kenobi said: tell me a song that reminds you of a character from HP (and why, if you'd like ) Ok, so can I cheat a little and share two songs about my favorite parental couple from HP, Molly/Arthur Weasley? You Don't Dance by Ryan McMullan -> This is mostly inspired by Mark/Julie being totally flipping goobers & dancing like they do in these gifs below. And then the comments from the tumblr people below. I just...this song is so them because they definitely don't dance the same as everyone. But also my favorite lyric from this is "when the night is over can i walk you home / i promise you that my intentions are honorable" because it's just SO how I imagine a young Arthur to be. Earnest, chivalrous, but always leaving the decision up to Molly. If You Love Her by Forest Blakk -> This makes me think of them throughout various stages of their marriage. I mean just listen to the lyrics and tell me that this song wasn't written about Molly Weasley? On 12/1/2020 at 3:50 AM, dottie-wan-kenobi said: tell me your favorite literature/poem quote and why you love it "Tell me something good," from Me Before You is kind of a catchphrase of mine. It's my way of humbly asking for someone to give me something good to focus on. Plus, in the book, it takes place during a heartbreaking moment. It's four simple words, but in the context of the story and in the grander scheme of things, they feel powerful to me. On 12/1/2020 at 3:50 AM, dottie-wan-kenobi said: tell me what your favorite kind of holiday dessert is So in Pennsylvania, cookies are big deal. We do cookie tables for weddings, fancy parties, etc. The holidays are no exception. Some of my favorite kind of cookies are: apricot pinwheels, lady locks (puff pastry with cream filling and powder sugar sprinkled on top), snickerdoodles, peanut butter fingers (basically a long peanut butter cookie and you dip the ends in chocolate sauce and sprinkle nuts on top), and then of course traditional sugar cookies cut into festive shapes with icing and sprinkles on top. I hope you will accept this modest gift, Dottie! I will try to return later in the month with something less centered around me and more centered around you. Courtney
Lost_Robin Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 I left a review for you! My favorite holiday cookie is Krum Kaga, which involves an iron and rolling them while they're still hot. They're also very delicate, so if you bite into one the wrong way, it'll completely crumble into your hands. I also really like fudge, and we started making some fudge with a tiny bit of cayenne pepper in it (it's surprisingly good). And, I headcanon that Remus and Sirius are either ace or demisexual. Happy holidays!
dottie-wan-kenobi Posted December 4, 2020 Author Posted December 4, 2020 @Lost_Robin thank you so much!! Krum Kagas sound so interesting?? I'm gonna have to youtube them to see this process lol. And yesss ace wolfstar is one of my favorite things @prideofsnowfairies those songs are both so sweet omg (and listening to the first one while watching the gifs was so cute), and yes the second one was 100% written about Molly you've given me Arthur/Molly feels, I need you to know this lol. And that's such a lovely quote! Aaaand now I want cookies thank you so much! I love these gifts Though I realized I probably should have put more info in my original post so I'm just gonna do that here? My archive page+ My big fandoms right now are HP, the Carry On series by Rainbow Rowell, and DC Comics. My favorite HP era is the Marauders era, but I love me some good Golden Trio and co as well!! My favorite color is green and I like soft things best of all, especially warm blankets. My favorite tropes are bed sharing and soulmate AU
victoria_anne Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Hi there! Happy holidays! I left you a review on The Definition of Bravery Is, and I really loved it! Chiara is so lucky to have this story written for her! On 12/1/2020 at 4:50 PM, dottie-wan-kenobi said: tell me your favorite literature/poem quote and why you love it This is a really sweet thing to ask people, so I'm going to tell you one of my favourite poetry quotes (but I think I'm totally unoriginal for loving this particular one) "Rise like lions after slumber / In unvanquishable number / Shake your chains to earth like dew / Which in sleep have fallen on you / Ye are many - they are few." It's from Percy Shelley's Mask of Anarchy. I think I love it so much because of its call to action feel (and it makes me think of all the fantasy rebellion elements I love in books ). I was also introduced to Shelley's poetry during my semester exchange in England, so to be where he was while reading his poetry - and being able to visit Manchester where the Peterloo Massacre (and the poem's inspiration) happened was just such an amazing experience. I hope December is festive and wonderful for you
ineffable_season Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 Hi Dottie! I am back with some more YOU centered gifts! I left some reviews on to go with grace and no compasses, no signs both are wonderful stories and you write Lily in such a compelling way! Also you know I'm obsessed with period pieces so I'll be stalking your AP for updates on no compasses, no signs Happy December! Courtney
magemadi Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 Hi dottie! just popping in to say I'm going to record a podfic for your Lily fic to go with grace and I'll let you know when it's up!
Renacerá Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Oh, I love the idea of sharing favorite quotes! Here are some I try to live by: From the Trickster's duology by Tamora Pierce, when asked why she did something kind, a character replies: Quote I wanted to have something good to remember about today. Something that wasn't petty or mean. Sometimes you have to provide such moments yourself. Another is from the poem "Invitation" by Mary Oliver: Quote It is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in the broken world. And one more from Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo: Quote Inej almost felt sorry for her. Dunyasha really believed she was the Lantsov heir, and maybe she was. But wasn't that what every girl dreamed? That she'd wake and find herself a princess? Or blessed with magical powers and a grand destiny? Maybe there were people who lived those lives. Maybe this girl was one of them. But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren't chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway. Finally, two poems I love: Charles Bukowski's "No Help for That": Spoiler there is a place in the heart that will never be filled a space and even during the best moments and the greatest times we will know it we will know it more than ever there is a place in the heart that will never be filled and we will wait and wait in that space. and Clementine von Radics' "You are on the floor crying.": Spoiler You are on the floor crying. And you have been on the floor crying for days. And that is you being brave. That is you getting through it as best you know how. No one else can decide What your tough looks like.
