ineffable_season Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Season's Greetings Friends!! (gif from NYCB, I think) Welcome to this corner of my snowy forest, where in my mind I am twirling around in a romantic tutu and also getting teary eyed about The Sugar Plum Fairy Adagio. Not to be confused with the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. That piece can burn in ballet hell for all eternity. Only those who've danced the entire pas de deux will understand. The rest of you will just think I am even more insane than you already did. But anyway, one thing that has me bummed is that I cannot see The Nutcracker this year. I recently got over my sadness/disappointment/regret that I often associated with going to the ballet (it's a long, complicated story). But of course going isn't an option. So I am going to stare at pretty gifs and watch some YouTube videos and just relish in the beautiful music. I also know this time of year is hard for some people. So one of my wishes for all of you is that you can find something to feel warm and fuzzy about this season or find something that fulfills you. Feel free to share it with me below if you like, or you can keep it close to your heart and bask in all its goodness. Also if you need someone to message you throughout the month, lemme know. I'll be your adoptive sister, cousin, wino aunt, whatever, for the month of December and beyond if you want. Right so...I guess I should kind of talk about some things you can do for moi. Watch me drop a list with some awkward ramblings surrounding it because I don't know how to ask people for things. Reviews on anything on my AP always works. Book recommendations are great. Also, wanna follow me on goodreads? Great, let's be bookish friends too! I have a pretty hecking eclectic taste. I virtually read zero fantasy though (aside from HP & Outlander<- if you count that lol), so wanna change that? I'll try everything/anything if it's well written and compelling! I love music, so playlists or song recommendations based on any of my WIPs or one-shots or just "Hey Courtney check this out, I think you'd like it," are awesome too! I mean it would be cool to have a signature set, but I don't know of what because I suck like that. Or if you wanna make a picspam or a story banner, cool, cool. Here are my messy as heck young!Molly/Arthur pinterest boards (I'm rebuilding so if you see stuff shifting around...sorry yo): [Arthur] [Molly] [A/M]. And here's everything from the HH universe. Also, I am not consistent w/FCs sooo...just pick one from one of those places...idc. I give creative license when requesting shizz anyway because I'm terrible at explaining things or having any sort of artistic vision. Tell me about a charity or non-profit organization that is important to you & I'll add it to my rotating donation list. I try to do several throughout the year as opposed to a bunch around the holiday's. Tell me something about yourself that I don't already know. I love meeting new people, so let's get to know one another. Literally anything? Memes, tumblr posts, anything Weasley, etc. It's all welcome here! So some fandoms I like outside of HP. I mean...I familiar with A LOT of fandoms. I mean A LOT. Seriously ask me about a fandom and I probably had a brief phase within it. Mostly I gravitate towards period pieces (The Crown, The Queen's Gambit, Anne with an E, Miss. Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Downton Abbey, Belgravia, Victoria, etc.), sarcastic humor (The Office-US Version tho sorry), found families (FRIENDS & HIMYM), space stuff (Star Wars, BSG), and sometimes fantasy (HP, Outlander, parts of GoT). I probably love some supporting character in each of these or "the old people," or the "married couple." I just gravitate towards those rare or underappreciated characters/pairings. Some other random things about me: I'm addicted to coffee. And also, I collect coffee mugs. You probably saw me around my birthday crying about a Weasley mug that @Everyshipunfreezable bought me. I some times do paper crafts like scrapbooking and card making. Although, that's kind of on hold this year. Next year I'll make holiday cards for people who want them. I enjoy language learning. Although I am definitely not fluent in anything other than English. I often refer to myself as a "hot mess." Because I mean, I am. I can rarely find what I need and am floundering behind the scenes of my everyday life. I live in Pennsylvania. I have my whole life. I feel very conflicted by this at times. I'm not adventurous at all. But I wish I was. I love ballet and musicals. Oh and classic films. I work in HR for a manufacturing company. We actually build a lot of cool shit for a variety of customers. So uhm...anyone need a job? Just kidding. No, but seriously, we're hiring. I'm a lefty, living in a right handed person's world. Right so, I don't know what else to add except have a Jimmy Stewart gif (It IS a Wonderful Life). Ok yeah, I make weird jokes too.

It's been on my festivity list for so long, so I'm excited that I finally get to see it live! That's wonderful B! I hope you enjoy it! It doesn't make me sad to hear it, it makes me happy to hear that other companies are in the world are performing it still! I imagine artists, ballet dancers included, have been hit pretty hard during COVID. I can't wait to hear what you thought of it! Thank you for the review gift darlin!

Lost_Robin Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I can't think of any book recommendations at the moment (I'm currently reading Alison Weir's series on the wives of Henry VIII), but I did leave you a few reviews on Hardened Hearts, which has caused me to think about a new ship. Fun fact about me: I'm left-handed too!!

You mentioned Downton Abbey and supporting characters and my heart leapt at the thought of exploring Violet Crawley so I whipped up this picspam. I hope the dowager countess would approve

dottie-wan-kenobi Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Hello Courtney! Happy holidays I’m going to be back later with reviews (I peeked at your page, and immediately saw several fics I want to read!!) but for now I wanted to give a few things I have no good book recommendations except, if you haven’t read it, the Percy Jackson series is very dear to my heart. Percy’s inner voice is so strong, the plots are really fun and really angsty too, and the relationships grow in such an organic way. There’s elements of real life intertwined with magic and myth, and it all feels very real. Similar to Harry Potter, it starts lighter and gets darker as time goes on. I’d also like to say, Outlander is amazing!! I haven’t finished the first book yet sadly but like, good taste lol And now, some songs! I might be back with more once I read some of your works, butttt for now I have a few that I hope fit the Arthur/Molly vibe. And if not, they’re still really good, so hey Courtney check this out, I think you'd like it For the Dancing and the Dreaming (Cover)+ by Erutan — you’ve probably heard this one before, but I love this cover so much. It gives me fantasy vibes big time, and it’s just the sweetest thing. It feels like a conversation (I think it’s supposed to be a duet lol), one that makes me think of young Arthur and Molly. Especially this lyric: “I have no use for rings of gold / I care not for your poetry / I only want your hand to hold / I only want you near me” Sweet Architect+ by Emeli Sandé — this one is a little sadder, but I think it fits war time pretty well? When I listen to it, I think about people trying to make things work through difficult times, and reaching out to each other. Apparently this is not what the song is actually about but whatever I think Arthur and Molly go through so much over the years, and this feels like something Molly might really relate to Paper Rings+ by Taylor Swift — am I adding this almost solely because of this line being very very Arthur (”I like shiny things, but I'd marry you with paper rings”)? Yes yes I am Quiet+ by Jason Mraz — this is just a sweet song that I really love, and looking at the lyrics is making me emo haha. “Empires rise, empires fall / Will you be my constant through it all?” and “I will hold your hand / And watch the world spin idly around this life we're in / Oh yeah everything goes quiet when it's you I'm with” in particular! And then a bonus song that gives me Weasley feels in general: King and Lionheart+ by Of Monsters and Men — just. All of it but the first verse is especially relevant imo: “Taking over this town, they should worry / But these problems aside, I think I taught you well / That we won't run, and we won't run, and we won't run”
Felpata_Lupin Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Hi, Courtney, my love! I'm here with a little review for you! I might be back at some point (just wondering... what are your feelings on podfics? For future reference, you know... ) Happy holidays!!!
ineffable_season Posted December 4, 2020 Author Posted December 4, 2020 @dottie-wan-kenobi Thank you so much for the series recommendation! I have not read Percy Jackson, but I might have to change that next year. Also the little Arthur/Molly playlist! I had only heard the Mumford & Sons song before (which I'm adding to a playlist I have called "Weasley War Cry," ). But all of those songs are so beautiful and so Arthur/Molly and I LOVE how much thought you put into selecting them. They are absolutely perfect! Thank you so much for this incredibly thoughtful gift! Courtney @Felpata_Blizzard Oh my gawsh, thank you for reviewing HH! It's one I am most excited/anxious about because it's borderline OF and I tend to not write that. But also it's Arthur Weasley's parents, and I want to give them a good story. I so appreciate your detailed review on that short, little prologue hah. And uhm...podfics are totally fine...I'll probably cry if I receive one just because that's like such a thoughtful gesture. But again, I almost cry when anyone does anything remotely nice for me LOL. Courtney

Everyshipunsinkable Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Lynn!! Here I am again with another gift (if the last one can really be counted as such)! This time I made it myself and I hope you'll like it as much as I had fun making this! It makes me want to spend the holidays with the Weasleys! Imagine how much fun that would be! Love ya, girl!! Emma x
ineffable_season Posted December 6, 2020 Author Posted December 6, 2020 fjhisfhdioawoiru @Everyshipunfreezable!! This is SO Weasley! I love it so much, thank you for making it! (And I totally counted the Queen thing as a gift because I now want to hang it in my house!) ALSO THE FRAKKING GEARS (like in We Were Only Kids when nerdy 2nd/3rd year Arthur read a book about gears OMG!!!) Courtney
starlitcastles Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Hi Courtney! Just wanted to say that despite not having met initially back when you first joined, I'm really glad to see you about here on the forums and am hoping to interact with you more and getting to know you better. So happy that you also joined Hufflepuff and it's great that you're also a Weasley-Prewett stan/fan seeing as I love the Weasleys alot too! Also I was happy that you also made a wishlist too as it seems very thought out and colorful if you don't mind me saying! Oh, and I also hope that you don't mind me saying but I love meeting new people and making new friends so I hope that we can be friends and if you ever want to message me and vice versa then would definitely love to try and send you message you as well. With that said, I'm actually here to gift you your gifts or rather gift for the time being and the first one is to tell you something about myself which I thought was interesting for you to ask but nonetheless, it's cool if and when people share about themselves and you get to know them better. Anyway, so a fun fact about me is is that I'm ambidextrous yet when it comes to writing, I'm actually left handed even though I have tried a few times to use my right hand and it's still a work in progress. For the most part, I actually don't realize at times that I am until somebody else like my dad or teachers pointed out to me since I always thought I was only left handed but turns out I can use right hand in other situations as well too but often times, I'm using both hands at times. I actually do have another gift or two for you so I'll definitely am hoping to drop by onto here again soonish hopefully!
ineffable_season Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 @starliticesculptures Awww Anni! You're so sweet! I'm always down for chatting whether it be here or twitter or wherever else I occupy space on the web. And that's so fun you're ambidextrous! I actually do a lot with my right hand as well (likely the result of two right handed parents and them not thinking their kids could be lefties hah), but I definitely can only write left handed. Great to know more about you, and I look forward to learning more & exploring your wishlist Courtney
grumpy cat Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 i left you a lil review on hardened hearts and omg that story is literal i love it
Everyshipunsinkable Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 Hey vriendin! I wrote a review for Beloved. Please please please write more Rose x Emmeline (Roseline? Rommeline?) stuff!
Hawksquill Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Happy holidays! I sent you a friend request on Goodreads and I come bearing book recs. Some of my favorite books: Little. Big by John Crowley - lit fic/magical realism/fantasy/dystopia.what is genre? Fairies, multigenerational family saga, absolutely stunning prose, chock full of whacky allusions to everything from soap operas to the hermetics. The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave - this is a brand new book I read this year but it already holds a dear place on my favorites shelf. Scandinavian witch trials, stunning prose, amazing characters, based on a super interesting event that happened in real world history, amazing wlw? Sign me tf up, and I hope you as well. Hons and Rebels by Jessica Mitford - hilarious memoir about a British aristocrat who grew up to be a socialist. And if you're at all interested in Afrofuturism, I highly recommend Nnedi Okorafor and N. K. Jemisin. My favorites of Nnedi's are the Akata Witch books and the Binti trilogy, and I just finished How Long 'til Black Future Month by Jemisin and it rocked my world. And something you might not know about me - I was born in PA, have deep PA roots on my dad's side (PA Dutch!) and then moved back for a few years in college! An original fiction idea I currently have floating around in my head is about a coven of witches in a post-industrial mining town in PA, too, so clearly there's something about it that just captures my imagination Wishing you and yours all the best this holiday season xx

So thanks for recommending them to me! And the others of course, but those....I REALLY wanna read hah.I just really need to read what I own first though. And so cool about your connection to PA! We'll have to chat about where you went to college if you were in the Pittsburgh area. Wouldn't it be weird if we went to the same one LOL? But there's a million colleges in PA so...probably not hah. I love that original fiction idea! Please write it, so I can buy it when it's published Hope you have a great December! Courtney

Courtney Aha, yes, trying to get through the books I already own is the constant struggle. I have a Goodreads shelf just for that purpose, and I try to alternate books I've had for a while with new books and library books. It's..sort of worked for me this year? I still desperately need to do a book purge, though Not the Pittsburgh end of the state, the Philly end, I'm afraid. I've never been to Pittsburgh but I've heard it's really cool. And I'm sorry to say I probably will never publish anything, much less this wacky idea I have for PA witches, but it's so sweet of you to say you'd buy it!
Renacerá Posted December 23, 2020 Posted December 23, 2020 Hi Courtney! I left you a review+ (which I see you've responded to!), but I also want to drop in to just say happy holidays and maybe give you some papercraft recommendations! Here are some fabulous papercraft things I would definitely recommend: Tombow dual brush art markers Stabilio point-88 markers Micron fineline pens Washi tape (of course!) Finally, some things you might not know about me (though we have so much in common that you might!): I love random animal facts, having strong opinions about things literally no one else has an opinion on, and snacking on things that are more sugar than not.
