Hey Hey Everyone! I'm fairly addicted to challenges so I thought it only fitting that I finally host one myself! And heading into this new year had me thinking about endings and beginnings and how they're so intertwined with one another - which all leads me here. ?

Challenge Name: Open at the Close
Challenge Deadline: March 31
Accepted Fandoms: HP, OF, (hit me up if you have others in mind)
Accepted Ratings: All
Challenge Details: As storytellers we spend a lot of time building to an ending, but every ending is often just another beginning- so write me a story that starts at a typical finale. Drop me right into the aftermath of a main character’s death or a slow burn couple’s first kiss.
The ending to start with is up to you, but if you need a muse I can shoot you an idea to get started.

Rules:

  • All entries must be posted to the FFT Archives
  • Everyone will be considered a maybe until they submit an entry
  • Entries can be combined with other challenges
  • Multiple Entries allowed
  • All story formats accepted (one-shots, multi-chapter, drabbles, ect.)
  • Must include ‘for RogueSlytherin’s Open at the Close Challenge’ in the story summary

Rewards:
All entries will be reviewed; any multi-chapters will receive at least one chapter review

  • Third place: 5 reviews on stories of your choice
  • Second place: Picspam for your story + 5 reviews on stories of your choice
  • First place: Picspam for your story + Picspam for a main character + 5 reviews on stories of your choice

Yeet me any questions that you might have!

Such a cool idea for a challenge! I definitely want to try and come up with something! ?

I wanna say yes, but the challenge is really about starting a narrative without any preamble or backstory - if that still works then I say go for it!

I would love to be a maybe, but could I ask for that possible muse idea you were mentioning?

I'd love to give this a try. I've been meaning to write a sequel to a one-shot I've written previously. Would that be okay?

What if your story started right after a major duel or battle with their nemesis where the protagonist lost?

Nope! I'm up for anything! And glad you found a muse ? Can't wait to read what you've come up with!

Hello, as I've mentioned, I could really do with a one week extension please if possible :)

Thank you so much to everyone participating in my first challenge! ? There's still time to send me what you've been working on or let me know if you're still putting the finishing touches on it an entry and we can work out an extension ? I am so excited to read everyone's entries ?
