like most people, i was inspired by jacque's fluff challenge and am planning a 30 chapter story collection modern au of nina zenik and matthias helvar (helnik) from six of crows. it's sweet and soft, and tbh i think i'm killing it and i haven't written anything yet, i'm only in the planning stages.

i do have a posting schedule for both ao3 and fft, and my fft posting deadline is may 10th, so keep an eye on that, but my ao3 deadline is may 22nd, so i might be pushing it back depending on how much i can finish. i'm currently planning on writing it sequentially with publishing order dependent on the song lyrics, but we'll see how that goes...

abbi!!! thank you so much for the questions  i'm also loving everyone's energies, it's just so fun

1. i didn't plan on any of the spinoffs, truly! i fully intended a single 5 chapter fic, but i think fleshing out the background of the characters and delving into the relationships between them has me wanting to spend more time in this universe! and the reactions don't hurt either! i'm definitely taking into account everyone's love of diana (*hint hint?*)

2. i really like the reactions! it's kind of what i look forward to now - what will people say when i post the next one? how much info should i give to get those AHA moments in reviews vs how much do i want to save for an even bigger reveal, or just to keep some info hidden for the fun! i think it's been a lot of fun keeping my cards close and getting those all caps SCREAMING reviews!  

3. the plan for the story has changed dramatically! maybe once i've finished and posted chapter 5 i'll post what i initially intended for the story to be and how it changed and evolved as i went more into who each of the characters were, how they came to be in their positions, and what i wanted for them long term. i think that the changes have only been for the better because i think it's a more interesting and gripping plotline!

4. i think reactions people have! i mean i like writing because i like it, but i can't lie - getting positive feedback from people really feeds the gremlin inside me that is so starved for validation! the recent nominations for the inkys and reviews that people left during the review event, it's just been super lovely because it's giving me others to be accountable for, and to push myself because i already know what happens, but y'all don't, and with the love i receive i want to give something back (in this case, another chapter or two). it's probably not the healthiest, but i think that's also how my motivation dies - if there's no attention/love on something and i'm just writing for me, but i already know what happens, i guess i don't feel the pull to finish it? maybe i need to reevaluate some priorities...

alright things i should have worked on: kingdom keys. things i have worked on: the fluff challenge

but anyways, quick recap. for jacque's fluff challenge, i'm doing a nina zenik/matthias helvar (aka helnik) piece called lover, in which all of the chapter titles are lyrics from the song lover by tswift (am putting this out there hoping this idea doesn't get stolen because i think it's one of my best ideas). as of last night when i got some crazy good inspiration, i now have 10 chapters set in stone and they are:

So, yeah, give me a new chapter soon, okay? )

I don't really have questions at the moment, just wanted to let you know that I'm rooting for you!  

Oh, and your collection for Jacque's challenge sounds super adorable! I have no idea who Nina Zenik and Matthias Helvar are, but it still sounds awesome, so good luck with that as well!

i promise that when i start writing itll be for kingdom keys - the fluff challenge (six of crows ship) is just me brainstorming, but i am still committed to finishing kingdom keys this camp nano!!! (... hopefully...)

alrighty, another update! i've got the basics of all 30 pieces ready to go, now to write them... or to write kingdom keys... I DONT KNOW ANYMORE!!! but regardless, i have updated the nest...

i made a pinterest board+ and also two graphs for lover:

 

purple represents chapters that i'm planning from 'both' perspectives, red is for nina, and blue is for matthias! this might change as i actually do the writing part, but for right now that's where i am!

i've also only got two more things to submit for my degree, so im hoping that i can get started writing very very soon, because to meet my posting deadline of may 10, i'm going to have to write 20 chapters by then if i'm sticking with writing sequentially

I haven't read Kingdom Keys yet, I love the title so much, and I am so impressed and amused by the mostly caps!reactions you're getting for this story. I'm also not surprised because like your writing has this tendency to make me scream, whether I am entertained or shocked or really curious!

Also very excited for your Helnik series. I love them. I remember picking up Six of Crows four years ago at a bookstore after a big and long reading slump, and the whole thing just plunged me right back into fantasy, and Nina and Matthias were my favorite couple, i basically melted and ached for their whole story and backstory in that first book, and so I love love love all the LOVE they are getting!

Another thing I always admire about you is how freaking ORGANIZED you are Also, the idea of having the song lyrics of just one song as your chapter titles is

1. Since your Helnik is a Muggle AU, what sort of setting will they be in? How old are they? Students or older?

2. What is your favorite Helnik moment from the books?

ELIIIII!!!! I've missed you and can't wait to answer all your questions!!!

I'm so excited for you to read my helnik, i love them too and i hope i do them justice!!  Melt and ache truly are the perfect words for how i feel about those two honestly

1. So it's a modern AU, nina is a recent grad who now works in a research lab in a different country than she grew up with, and matthias is a pro hockey player who plays for the Fjerdan Wolves, so like mid-late 20s, and then spread out around a few years after they meet and all about how their relationship progresses and ughhhh i think it's so cute, but i wont spoil anything

2. "You aren’t a flower, you’re every blossom in the wood blooming at once. You are a tidal wave. You’re a stampede. You are overwhelming." AHHHHHHHHHHHH IT MAKES ME MELT AND ACHE (again, perfect words ) I LOVE IT SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVE IT

3. Ooooooh okay so Diana is amazing, i love her, she's a little stabby (but like in a cool way) and i have her entire backstory planned out and she grew up with teddy, and there was an *incident* that came between them, and then they reconnect due to circumstances beyond their control, and then they have to go do these things (like the ones in the story) to do a final thing (this is in it but its not posted yet), but diana is like a half-werewolf and half-metamorphagus like teddy, and is totally badass. little emotional, little emotionless, and - again - little stabby. if im a good little writer, i'll write the background on diana i've been meaning to hopefully soon

4. I would... I think. I would write them in the Grisha universe, but likely a modern AU. so they might still be in Grishaverse society, but with cell phones and lipstick (but figure out a way to make those grisha-aligned inventions). I just do better in mdoern times, it's just so much fun to write!

5. The time. I'm supposed to write 18 more chapters before May 10th, and idk if I can get that done so i might have to push everything back for a week, but i'll still have 15 up by the deadline. Maybe I should go write rn so i can keep on top of that...
