i've been dabbling in a dark, war-torn, post-apocalyptic original flash fiction/drabble collection since the end of january even though i've wanted to do a post-apocalyptic disaster-bi love story ever since jill had that one challenge way back when.

and this...is definitely not a love story.

i'm not entirely sure why or how i ended up writing these twisted drabbles instead of what my original idea was, but on the other hand, i've always been fascinated with cults and religion that you believe so fiercely in that you, y'know, ~~do stuff in the name of god or this (prophetic?) leader or whatever. and how sometimes the "truest" and "fiercest" believers are the ones that were too damaged and broken at the start that going full in with something that's bigger than them seems freeing when they're just slaves.... and i think part of me is still stuck on the books american war by omar el akkad and the water knife by paolo bacigalupi that i read years ago as well as keep sweet: pray and obey documentary and under the banner of heaven tv series - the last two because #religiouscults

anyhow, i've posted six drabbles so far, and honestly, some of the lines i wrote i still sometimes think about because idk how the fuck i managed that - not saying this to brag, just that...something in this collection takes my mind into this dark state of mind that's so different than my usual brand and i like it. it's different than real life in such a vast way...and i like that. i like that i'm currently not writing about stuff that's super close to my own state of mind or state of life or whatever idk if that makes sense to anybody else?

i'd like to write at least one drabble during camp nano which is a small goal but my life has been hectic lately. two would be nice-to-have

i also appreciate any questions, quotes or poeams you think i might like re: the themes i mentioned above, song or book or tv or movie suggestions..just general inspo, y'know? i've got a +pinterest board ofc, but i haven't even had the time to make a picspam oops

krissssssss  you know i love everything you write and this OF of yours is no exception - it's so exciting!! and i'm really rooting for you this camp nano - it's so hard to find time to write when things get hectic so i'm hoping things calm down for you a bit and you get to relax and hopefully that ends with writing  (i don't have any questions atm but hopefully i'll be back when i think of some!! )

Hey, Kris! I thought I'd return the favour and visit your nest, and... wow! The way you presented this project sounds so fascinating and interesting and the sort of thing that would so intrigue me... I haven't read anything from this collection yet, and I don't have questions right now, but I'm definitely going to stop and check this out soon! (It's also an Inkys finalist, right? So one more reason... congratulations, by the way! )

Small goals are still goals, it's hard to conjugate writing and life and to find the energy to deal with it all, so I feel you! Good luck with getting that drabble done, and then a second and, why not? Maybe a third!  And expect a review or two from me very soon!
