Hey Vicki! Your poetry is always so compelling, and this piece is no different, even if it’s all the way back from 2014! I really enjoy the style choice with the different stanzas kind of standing alone as a different moment in time, moment in feeling, of those students at Hogwarts waiting for him to finish the War, finish this tormentor forever. I can picture this as if it’s all of those DA members and Order of the Phoenix members repeating this poem like a mantra, almost, as they watch his final battle showdown with Voldemort in the Great Hall. And the power his name has on their lips over Voldemort’s silencing spells and against the Death Eaters. Ugh, such a great poem, Vicki! :)

Author's Response:

Hi Madi.  Thank you so much for leaving a review for my poem.  It was always so much fun to re-write Christmas carols into the Harry Potter universe for the Carol Challenge (as you say, all the way back in time).  The old-fashioned carols that were given to us as our models tended to have several self-contained verses, each addressing a different, distinct image or theme, so that you could pack a lot of ideas into one poem.  Another example of this is the poem "Harry Potter, Holly Tree" (also on my AP), rewritten from "Jesus Christ, the Apple Tree".  It also deals with the final days of the Second Wizarding War.  High tension and drama for sure.
