She has both of them work through the meaning of their soulmate tattoos of each other's last words and it really shows in their relationship through the years how they deal with having that knowledge. Even though this isn't a fluffy romance story, it still speaks volumes about romantic relationships, especially when things get tough and partners are separated (in this case for over twelve years) and how they have to try and come back together and resize themselves to fit back in their little puzzle of a relationship again.
