I'm pleased to share this Golden Ink winner spotlight!

Today, we're honoring Howard and Joel as the deserving winners of Best Friendship:

The Crofter and the Snake

When our protagonist Howard Sutton arrives at Hogwarts, he isn't looking for friendship -- in fact, he's looking for a way out. However, when he meets Joel Hussong through Hagrid and his love of magical creatures, he finds a friend that he can't shake. Together, they study the re-appeared Adobo, try to navigate Middle English texts, face McGonagall (one of Howard's worst enemies, believe it or not), and navigate Howard's other relationships at Hogwarts. Instead of staying quiet and observing from the background, Joel helps Howard jump right in and find something he's passionate about. 

Vicki's original characters are always well-studied. Not everyone can crack the shell that is Howard, but she crafted another character that fits right in. Everyone should hope to find someone they can bounce ideas off of like Howard and Joel do!
